We Can Make a Difference
Character Qualifications- Faithful, Dependable, Willing to help, Available
Scripture References-
Ecc. 4:9-12- Two are better than one
Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up. Again, if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can one be warm alone? And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
1 Cor. 3:8-9- We are God’s fellow workers. Plants and water are both needed. They work together for the same result. They are on the same team.
Proverbs 27:17 Iron sharpeneth iron; So a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.
We need someone who can tell us hard things for us to be able to grow.
Heb. 10:24-25-to stir up one another to love and good works.
Eph. 4:11-12- for the perfecting of saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.
1 Peter 4:8-11-Use your gift to serve others.
King James Version Chapter 4
8 And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins. 9 Use hospitality one to another without grudging. 10 As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. 11 If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
Col. 3:23-24-
King James Version Chapter 3
23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; 24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for sye serve the Lord Christ.
The Bible will show us place after place where someone was needed to help. You can see people living out their everyday lives doing their ordinary things, but behind the scenes God was also raising up individuals to fulfill a destiny. It’s crazy to think how different life could be had it not been for individuals who were willing to be a help, be a tool that the Lord could use for His glory and His purpose. I love how we can even read about some of their struggles in the process with how they wrestled with how to help.
Just a few that come to mind real quick- from the very beginning of God created a woman to be a helpmeet to her husband, Nehemiah who saw a need and was troubled about the wall that needed to be repaired. Esther who was put into the kingdom for such a time as this, her people depended upon her help, her being willing to bring a matter before the King. Moses’ father in law noticed that there was an issue that he felt could be handled better. He was willing to bring the idea to Moses to have people be leaders over a certain amount of people to hear problems so Moses wouldn’t be so weary. Just regular people, living everyday lives, put having a heart to help and find a way to be useful.
*Fight against that “woe is me” spirit.
Fight against being self- centered.
Fight against making all things about you.
If you are in any place long enough eventually you will be able to where things could be done better, or you will see a place where your gifting could be used, or something that you could add to the church body that could and would be a blessing.
There is a difference in approaching something from a critical spirit vs. a helpful heart. A critical spirit will view things with the intent to tear down with nothing to build up or fix. A helpful heart will see a need, or view something that can be fixed and want to me done better and be willing to take part in that building or restoration process.
These are just a few of the things we have either attempted, have been a part of, or have seen others using their gifts and abilities in our home churches where we were planted at the time:
Teen Church- make it structured, making it the best it can possibly be.
Children’s Church- can be the most awesome things ever for kids to attend or it can be just a time for kids to run wild and just be an easy way out for parents not to deal with their kids in church. (Share your story)
B.Y.K.O.T.A-
Mailbox organizer-
Ladies Sunday School Class-(Share story of how that came to be)
Because of that being started someone else was brave enough to start a college and career class.
Kids Choir-
Youth Choir-
Prayer Shawl ministry-
Church Directory- We just wanted to make it easier for our church people to know how to get a hold of someone if they needed we made a simple directory that names, addresses, phone numbers, and their birthday’s. Because of that being done (something soooo simple) some of our ladies used that as a ministry to send out “Get Well” cards if someone was sick and missed church, another lady sent everybody a card for their birthday. Such a simple thing was used to be a great blessing to the body
Digital Creator/Photography/Videos- What an awesome for church people to see pictures and watch videos of church functions that happened even if they couldn’t be there. It’s a way for them to celebrate and be thankful for what the Lord did on those sp
