Intro

Set-Up: There’s a famous saying that goes, “Fear not that you will die; fear rather that you will never really live.” What does his piece of advice mean? What does it mean to ‘really live’ according to the bible?

Lesson

A primary theme in Proverbs is that folly leads to death. What aspect of folly leads to death in each of these
verses?
Proverbs 1:32 CSB
For the apostasy of the inexperienced will kill them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them.
Proverbs 5:22–23 CSB
A wicked man’s iniquities will trap him; he will become tangled in the ropes of his own sin. He will die because there is no discipline, and be lost because of his great stupidity.
Proverbs 15:10 CSB
Discipline is harsh for the one who leaves the path; the one who hates correction will die.
How does walking on the path of wisdom effect the length of life here on earth?
Proverbs 9:10-11 rov 9:10-11 / 10:27
Proverbs 9:10–11 CSB
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. For by me your days will be many, and years will be added to your life.
Proverbs 10:27 CSB
The fear of the Lord prolongs life, but the years of the wicked are cut short.
Read Prov 3:7-8 and 4:20-22. How does walking the path of wisdom relate to bodily health?
Proverbs 3:7–8 CSB
Don’t be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and turn away from evil. This will be healing for your body and strengthening for your bones.
Proverbs 4:20–22 CSB
My son, pay attention to my words; listen closely to my sayings. Don’t lose sight of them; keep them within your heart. For they are life to those who find them, and health to one’s whole body.
