The Ultimate Seeker

Matthew 14:22–31 KJV 1900

22 And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away. 23 And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone. 24 But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary. 25 And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. 26 And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. 27 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. 28 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. 29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. 31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

Tonight I want to talk just for a few minutes on this subject, “The Ultimate Seeker”

Hide and Seek

One of my favorite games growing up, and I’m sure almost every kid loves this game, but it was hide and seek.

I remember many times playing hide and seek on the church farm with all of my friends.

We hid in creeks, in trees, in drain pipes, and on top of the baseball field back stops.

So many good places to hid from the seeker.

Now, I was never a fan of being the seeker.

Being the hider was always the most fun.

Trying to be the last person found by the seeker was the ultimate goal.

The Ultimate Seeker

Now, I’m not here to talk about the game hide and seek but I am here to talk to you about the ultimate seeker.

I’m talking about the seeker who knows exactly where you are.

He doesn’t have to try and find you, He knows exactly where you are. He knows exactly the situation that you are in.

He knows the problems you are facing. He knows the trials you are going through.

He’s the ultimate seeker who will climb every mountain top and every valley low to find you where you are at and pull you from your situation.

When the waves of life are crashing hard against your boat and you begin to sink, the ultimate seeker will stretch out His hand and pull you out of those waves.

Talking About Jesus

I’m not just talking about the worlds best hide and seek player, I’m talking about Jesus and He is the Ultimate Seeker.

I know this is very basic but we all face trials in life and we feel like we’re all alone and that Jesus doesn’t know where we are but you’ve got to remember that He is the Ultimate Seeker and he knows every problem you’re facing, every trial you’re going through, every pain you feel, every tear you cry.

Don’t ever think that God doesn’t care about your problems.

There’s been times in my life where I thought my problems weren’t significant and that they weren’t worthy of God’s attention.

God loves each and everyone of us and He want’s to find you in your situation and take care of it no matter how big or small it is.

Harrison Okene’s Story

I want to tell you a quick story and this is a true story. In 2013 there was a man by the name of Harrison Okene.

Harrison was a cook on a tugboat off the coast of Nigeria and one day he was in the bathroom when a huge wave hit the boat and caused it to capsize and sink 100ft below the surface.

Harrison tried to open the door but it had become jammed with all the rushing water filling the vessel and lucky for him, where he had settled, it had become an air pocket underneath the water.

Harrison had only torches and mere supplies of food and water to keep him alive and according to specialists, only had enough oxygen in that air pocket to keep him alive for 56 hours.

Hours and hours go by with no end in sight for Harrison but he knew he couldn’t panic because if he did, he would run out of oxygen quicker than he already is.

Harrison thought this was the end but lucky for him, a dive team were already on their way and knew exactly where the boat was.

The divers didn’t expect to find anyone alive but one of the divers came upon a hand and reached out to grab it and to his surprise, the hand began to move.

The divers were shocked when they found Harrison alive in this tiny little air bubble 100ft underwater.

After 3 days of being stuck in his situation, Harrison was pulled out and brought to the surface.

He’s On The Way

You might be going through the toughest battle of your life.

The waves of the enemy may have sunk you down and trapped you underneath life's problems but I’m here to tell you that Ultimate Seeker knows exactly where you are at and He can find you in the middle of your situation.

The disciples were in the middle of their storm and they didn’t know that Jesus was on His way to find them in the middle of their situation.

The storms of life can seem so severe that we forget that Jesus knows where we are and He is on His way to find us.

Back to the Story

I want to end with this, after being rescued, Harrison decided that he was going to become a diver himself so he could dive and save people just like he was saved.

After being stuck in the situation that he was, he decided that he would face that fear again and help save people who were stuck in the same situation he was in.

Sometimes God may allow us to go through a situation so we can become a testimony to other people who are going through the same situation.

After God has found you and pulled you out of your situation, you need to go out and testify and witness and help pull people out of their situation.

Ending

No I know this wasn’t a conviction message and it was pretty simple but there may be someone in here tonight and you may feel like the weight of life's problems have trapped you and you feel alone hidden away from God but let me encourage you tonight, the ultimate seeker knows exactly where you are in your life.

You’re not alone in this life.

God hears every prayer and sees every tear and God will find you, He’ll stretch out His hand, pull you out of your trials.
