Introduction: Proverbs 30:7-9
Today, we are going to talk about the importance of relying on God for material and natural blessings. I feel this is important, because many Christians in our community have such a high appreciation and hope for eternity, that they have hardly had time to focus on the those things on earth. While we are called to be heavenly minded, we are also called to be earthly responsible.
The truth is: God has made it possible for His family to enjoy those earthly things so they might accomplish that which is heavenly.
However, I must warn you of is the danger of living within one of two extremes. Some Christians have been deprived of so much that they desire to be rich (see Proverbs 23:4–5 “Don’t wear yourself out trying to get rich. Be wise enough to know when to quit. In the blink of an eye wealth disappears, for it will sprout wings and fly away like an eagle.”). However, there are those who have been so fortunate to experience the riches of this world, that they then determine to give it all up and live in poverty.
The question is: Why would Solomon desire these things?
