God’s Help
Imagine you're hiking up a steep mountain and feeling exhausted. Suddenly, you come across a hidden spring that quenches your thirst and gives you the strength to continue. That's God's help - unexpected, refreshing, and sustaining!
The Bible contains many scriptures that speak of God being a source of help.
The KJV uses the English word “help” 126 times.
NLT uses the English word “help” 405 times. It is translating multiple words as “help.”
Psalm 121:1–8 (NLT) I look up to the mountains— does my help come from there? 2 [NO!] My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth! 3 He will not let you stumble; the one who watches over you will not slumber. 4 Indeed, he who watches over Israel never slumbers or sleeps. 5 The LORD himself watches over you! The LORD stands beside you as your protective shade. 6 The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon at night. 7 The LORD keeps you from all harm and watches over your life. 8 The LORD keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever.
His help is more than help, for He bears all the burden, and supplies all the need.
As Hebrews 13:6 (LSB) [tells us] … we confidently say, “The Lord is my helper, I will not be afraid. What will man do to me?”
Psalm 46:1 “God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.”
His help is timely: He is a very present help in time of trouble.
All-powerful help (always sufficient)
Steadfast (dependable)
Is a refuge
Isaiah 41:10 (LSB) ‘Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will make you mighty, surely I will help you; Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’
Help is certain
His help relieves fear and anxiety (if we will let it?)
His help reverses the situation (weakness into mightiness)
His help gives confidence
This afternoon realize that…
His help is very wise: He knows how to give each man help appropriate and fit for him.
His help is most effectual, though vain is the help of man.
Don’t ever give up asking for God’s help:
Jesus said in Luke 11:9–10 (AMP) So I say to you, Ask and keep on asking and it shall be given you; seek and keep on seeking and you shall find; knock and keep on knocking and the door shall be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks and keeps on asking receives; and he who seeks and keeps on seeking finds; and to him who knocks and keeps on knocking, the door shall be opened.
Pray for and with one another:
Ecclesiastes 4:9–11“9 Two are better than one because they have good wages for their labor. 10 For if either of them falls, the one will lift up his companion. But woe to the one who falls when there is not a second one to lift him up. 11 Furthermore, if two lie down together they keep warm, but how can one be warm alone?”
