Miracles Through the End Time Church (2)

· More than the apostles – signs follow believers

· Jesus said that THESE signs will follow believers, not just apostles.

· Since the early church were also believers, God did miracles through them too!

The anointing of the Holy Spirit was also given to the END time church

· in Luke 4 – the early church was just as anointed as Jesus

· Jesus gave all believers, starting with the early church, the legal power of attorney to use His NAME - in His NAME!

18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, 19 and that the time of the Lord’s favor has come.”

Miracles work by Authority and Power

Luke 10:19–21 NLT

19 Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you. 20 But don’t rejoice because evil spirits obey you; rejoice because your names are registered in heaven.” 21 At that same time Jesus was filled with the joy of the Holy Spirit, and he said, “O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, thank you for hiding these things from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the childlike. Yes, Father, it pleased you to do it this way.

Believers can use the Name of Jesus

Originally spoken to the 72 - but applies to all believers

Generic Christians Can Do the Works of God

Luke 9:49–50 NLT

49 John said to Jesus, “Master, we saw someone using your name to cast out demons, but we told him to stop because he isn’t in our group.” 50 But Jesus said, “Don’t stop him! Anyone who is not against you is for you.”

Signs follow believers, not just apostles

We are to be Witness to Jesus’ power – Acts 1:8

Acts 1:8 NLT

8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

All believers spoke in foreign languages (Acts 2:4)

Acts 2:4 NLT

4 And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability.

· “Believers” - Included the 12 apostles

You have MORE of the Bible than the Early Church

You have the same commission as the Early Church

You have the same Holy Spirit as the early church

Miracles did NOT die with the early church

Miracles were NOT just to jump start the church age – they are for EVERY day

Miracles only cease when FAITH ceases.

Jesus was born to do Good Works

Acts 10:38 NLT

38 And you know that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Then Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.

We were born to do good works

Ephesians 2:10 NLT

10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

Good works - include HEALING and DELIVERING

HOW? - because we share the same anointing as Christ

Believers are called to do Greater works than Christ!

John 14:12 NLT

12 “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.

Greater in QUANTITY - NOT QUALITY

The Church Ministers Despite Persecution

Acts 8:1–4 NLT

1 Saul was one of the witnesses, and he agreed completely with the killing of Stephen. A great wave of persecution began that day, sweeping over the church in Jerusalem; and all the believers except the apostles were scattered through the regions of Judea and Samaria. 2 (Some devout men came and buried Stephen with great mourning.) 3 But Saul was going everywhere to destroy the church. He went from house to house, dragging out both men and women to throw them into prison. 4 But the believers who were scattered preached the Good News about Jesus wherever they went.

God Does Miracles Today

· Kenneth E. Hagin - Smith Wigglesworth raised the dead - John G Lake was unharmed from direct contact with typhoid fever. Scientists watched under a microscope the germs die as they touched his hand.

· Oral Roberts - had tents full of healing crusades in the 1950’s. Many miracles were viewed across America by live television audiences.

· Marie Woodworth Etter - A modern day miracle working minister who was frozen in place like a human statue for 3 days by the power of the Holy Spirit, as a sign and a wonder, putting the fear of God even in the newspaper reporters who once mocked her ministry.

· Reinhart Bonnke - 50 years of miracles in Africa - blind eyes open, lame walking, witchdoctors gave up their practice, and gave their hearts to Jesus as their Savior

· Daniel Kolenda - many reports of miracles from Nigeria
