For some maybe this is the first time being away from your family, so its an opportunity to grow as a human being

2) Explain the Theme
“Catch Fire for the Lord”
“Catch Fire for the Lord”
The world is becoming increasingly more and more dark but as Christians we have the opportunity to brighten the world with our light that lives inside of us
So the idea of catching for the Lord is knowing Him, and walking closely with Him in obedience to His word
Being on fire for the Lord is really about being in Love with God and walk in the fullness of His spirit
God has a plan and purpose for your life
Ephesians 2:10 “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”
3. Examine Yourself
3. Examine Yourself
(First & Last sessions)
(First & Last sessions)
a) Do you know Christ personally?
Remember, we are all on different journeys with the Lord
2 Corinthians 13:5 “Examine yourselves to see if your faith is genuine. Test yourselves. Surely you know that Jesus Christ is among you; if not, you have failed the test of genuine faith.”
Examine means in detail to determine their nature or condition; to investigate (Be honest with yourself)
Questions to ask yourself:
Can you think back to the time where you have asked Christ into your heart?
Do you feel conviction when you sin
When we put our trust in Christ, the Bible says we are sealed with the Holy Spirit
One of the jobs of the Holy Spirit is to convict us of our sin
Maybe you’re here tonight and you would say, that I have not received Christ into my heart
Its a matter of placing your faith in Christ according to who the Bible describes Jesus (The son of God, perfect in all His ways, that died on the cross, and risen from the dead)
Asking Jesus to forgive us of our sin and be willing to forsake the old way or turn from your sin
b) (The next thing to examine) Are you walking with Christ?
Are you obedient to Him?
Lamentations 3:40 “Instead, let us test and examine our ways. Let us turn back to the Lord.”
Israel rebelled against God and God punished them by allowing them to be taken into captivity
Take responsibility and turn back to the Lord
God will always hear the prayer of repentance
c) (Speaking of repentance) King David sinned against the Lord when he took another man’s wife
Story of Bathsheba / Uriah
Psalm 51 (King David cried out to God and asked for repentance
Part of examine yourself is understanding where you are at, take responsibility for your action
David asks to be purified from sin
Create in me a clean heart
