This Week’s Theme: Meditate on God’s Word
Word for the Week is Meditation: Drawing close to God by spending time in quietness contemplating His Word with a focus on understanding His ways and works, and applying of the truths to one’s life.
Memory verse: Psalms 119:11 (NKJV) Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.
Sermon Text: Psalm 1:1-3
Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night.
He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.
INTRODUCTION:
TRANSITION:
I. Delight in God Directive
I. Delight in God Directive
But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
My hands also I will lift up to Your commandments,
Which I love,
And I will meditate on Your statutes.
I hate the double-minded,
But I love Your law.
Therefore I love Your commandments
More than gold, yes, than fine gold!
Consider how I love Your precepts;
Revive me, O Lord, according to Your lovingkindness.
Great peace have those who love Your law,
And nothing causes them to stumble.
My soul keeps Your testimonies,
And I love them exceedingly.
II. Desire God’s Directive
II. Desire God’s Directive
But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
A man who isolates himself seeks his own desire;
He rages against all wise judgment.
“And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart.
You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.
You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.
You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may do it.
III. Deliberate on God’s Directive
III. Deliberate on God’s Directive
But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
Delighting in God’s Word leads to Deliberating His Word
Oh, how I love Your law!
It is my meditation all the day.
His Truth should be on my Tongue
(MOUTH) CONTINUOUSLY TEACHING IT, SPEAKING ABOUT IT
SERMONIZE IT ON SUNDAY
MOUTH IT ON MONDAY
TESTIFY ABOUT IT TUESDAY
WITNESS TO IT ON WEDNESDAY
TEACH IT ON THURSDAY
FULMINATE IT ON FRIDAY
SING ABOUT IT ON SATURDAY
Your word I have hidden in my heart,
That I might not sin against You.
“Therefore you shall lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul, and bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall teach them to your children, speaking of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.

Changed of Disposition
Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.
This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
The mouth of the righteous speaks wisdom, And his tongue talks of justice.
The law of his God is in his heart; None of his steps shall slide.
Where is your focus or rather what is your focus?
Is your Objective to Observe His Ordinances
Then
Is your Stance to Study His Statutes
Is your Aim to Absorb the Word
Is your Target to Teach His Truth
Is your Intention to Introspect His
Concentrate on His Command
Muse over His Mandates
Ponder His Precepts
Think on His Testimonies
Meditate on His Majesty
Meditation on the person of God
I have set the Lord always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.
Meditation on the works of God
I will also meditate on all Your work, And talk of Your deeds.
Meditation on the creation
Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?
“So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin;
and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
The results of meditation
Obedience
Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.
Understanding and wisdom
Make me understand the way of Your precepts; So shall I meditate on Your wonderful works.
Praise and worship
We have thought, O God, on Your lovingkindness, In the midst of Your temple.
According to Your name, O God, So is Your praise to the ends of the earth; Your right hand is full of righteousness.
Prosperity and success
This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
Delight in the Lord Ps 119:77-78
Let Your tender mercies come to me, that I may live; For Your law is my delight.
Let the proud be ashamed, For they treated me wrongfully with falsehood; But I will meditate on Your precepts.
Confidence and faith Ps 16:8
I have set the Lord always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.
