Have you ever wondered what was the faith Abraham had.
Have you ever wondered what was the faith Abraham had.
Genesis 12- God tells Abraham to get out of his country and go to a country where God will show him. When the Lord calls you out, you need to obey. If the Lord calls me outof CCHH I need to obey Him regardless of what Pastor Jim says. Pastor Jim could say No, but if the Lord say go. Then what do I do, I go.
Psalm 119:105- If we are walking with the Lord then we can apply this verse to our life. If we are not walking with the Lord then we can not apply this verse in our life.
Many Christians believe that compromising just a little is OK.
It is OK if I say these bad words but not these.
Its OK if i think this but not this.
It’s OK if I go here but not here.
It’s OK If I watch this but not this.
The question is, Is it OK to be a little righteous but not a lot.
I’ll give you this example.
If I ask gardenia to marry me.
I get on my knee and I say
Gardenia, you are the best thing that has ever happened to me.
I promise to Love you and take care of you 75% of the time.
I promise to be faithful Monday through Friday. but Friday night through Sunday, those are my days.
I promise to cherish you only 3 hours a day.
How will that sound
Sounds dumb, but that is exactly what many of us do.
God says, do not be deceived for God is not mocked.
If God did not allow Moses to enter into the promise land for beating a rock, why should He allow you in.
Are you associating with the Godliness?
Are you not taking every thought captive?
Are you engaging in sinful activity that you know very well you should not.
If I were to ask you, and please do not raise your hand. How many of you have been tempted in your thoughts?
Everyone’s hand should come up, I mean every one.
There is no one here in which is not tempted.
Genesis 18- Abraham recognized the Lord and he hurried to serve Him. Are we quick to recognize the when the Lord speaks.
When my dog listens to my voice he listens. But there are times when she will not listen.
Are you like my dog, in which sometimes you listen and sometimes you don’t. This is one of those questions, in which everyone’s hand should go up as well. I can tell you there are times in which you do not listen to God. Does not matter who you are. It happens to everyone.
But that is why the word states that we are all sinners, we all fall short of the glory of God.
Psalm 119:114- We are in the palm of His hand. He knows us like the palm of our hand. Even better than that. He know every hair in your body.
We are a special people to Him, that is why the Father sent His son to die on the cross for our sins.
He wants to protect us at all cost. But if only need to put our Faith in Him.
Do you put your faith in Him.
Where do you fall short.
What hinders you from coming closer to God.
Do you read the bible daily. If not why.
Does laziness stop you.
We all should read the word of God every day.
It seems like I say this at every message I give. But it is the truth.
How can you be loyal to a God in which you do not spend time with.
How can you die for God when you are not devoted to him.
If you were to come to a cross road on which the question is asked to compromise for God. I have a feeling some in this room, would justify compromising for God.
Some might even say the word, God told me or God said to me to compromise.
If we can’t live for God in a period as today, then we are in trouble. No one is being killed here for being a Christian. Imagine if all of a sudden that came here.
What would some of you do.
We have to be in the palm of His hand as mentioned earlier.
Amos 5:14- Seek good and not evil, you heart will try to push you towards evil because that is our nature. But it might not be the evil that many think about.
If you ask a non believer if they are evil they will say no. They have never killed anyone or hurt anyone. But we know that evil is much more than just murder and hurting. It also includes lies, gossip, stealing if if it is something small.
So think those are too small.
Some people might even say, well God does not care if you steal an eraser. I don’t know, you think he does not care.
If He can’t trust you with small things how will He then trust you with big things.
Genesis 22 -This is where God calls Abraham to do something unimaginable. As a father I can’t imagine what was going through his mind.
Think about this.
You are called you kill your mom, your daughter, your son. It is going to happen in three days. but not here. You have to go a 3 days trip. Where ever that might be.
Would you tell anyone, would you tell your wife, would you tell the person you have to kill.
I know what some of you are thinking. I will do it because that is what God called me to do.
You might be the first one to compromise to be honest. Because taking a life is never easy. It is the hardest thing a person can do. That includes in self defense.
Many people will not be able to pull the trigger even if their lifes’ depended on it.
But here you are starting your 3 day journey. Did you say anything or you keep it to your self.
For Abraham, God had told him that his descendants would be as the sand is.
If I was Abraham, I might be questioning God. I thought my dependents would come through my son. If I kill him who would the heir be. Remember Abraham didn’t have other sons with Sarah. God had already told him that Ishmael would not be it. It would be someone through Sarah and Abraham.
But wait Lord, you are asking no telling me to sacrifice my Son.
I don’t think he slept during the 3 day journey. Trying to figure things out.
But here you are, started the journey. 3 days later, you arrive.
Can you lift that knife up to the sky, ready to strike your loved one.
Abraham did, believing the Word of God.
he didn’t know how God was going to do it, but he knew God was going to do it. That is why he tell his son God will provide himself with a lamb. Sure enough God provides himself with a lamb.
When Abraham heard the word Abraham do not harm the lad
I am sure it was a relief for Abraham.
I can only imagine what he was going through and what he was thinking.
In order to do something like that, one needs to be very close to God.
Imagine someone hears that when it was not the Lord, they might never hear the words do not harm the lad either and might kill the lad.
And what was Issac thinking oce they were up there. Was there some convincing Abraham needed to do.
What if your dad took you to the mountain top and said the Lord wants me to sacrifice you.
OK dad tie my hands and lay me at the Altar.
Let me close my eye when you life up the knife above my head ready to sacrifice me.
Would that mean that Issac was also close to God and allowed this to take place.
The interaction between both of them.
What would you do.
What would you say
Would you say,
Sorry Abraham, you’re on your own and walk away.
What would be your reaction if you were the sacrifice.
What about sarah, Abrahams wife. Did Abraham say anything to her. Or did he just take Issac without telling her anything.
Abrahams heart must have been heavy.
when I think about the Father and knowing He had to give up His son to become sin for us.
except the father had to sacrifice His son.
It was such a faith, that as I have read the bible, I don’t see what other faith comes close to that of Abraham. Other people have had faith, but Abraham was the only one who was asked to do the ultimate sacrifice of sacrificing his only son.
Thats why I said at the beginning,
it is not a 50/50
it is not a 80/20
it is a 100% sacrifice from our part to the Lord.
What I mean by sacrifice is by being obedient to God for what He has called us to do.
Once our heart is aligned with God’s heart it is no longer a sacrifice. It becomes a way of life. It becomes something we enjoy.
Continue to seek God
Continue to read His word
Continue to pray
We are close and it is not a time to let up
Believe me Satan and his demons are not.
