Introduction:
Romans tells us that In your flesh dwells no good thing.
There are some days that going to be harder than others, but at the end of the day there will always be a struggle between the flesh and the spirit.
1 COR 19:27
Paul says “ I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway’
When we look at the Jesus, Matthew chapter 4
He’s driven up into the wilderness and tempted of the devil
He quotes - Deuteronomy 8:3 in reply, “It is written, 'Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God'"
PAUL SAYS 7:18
For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
We all have been there. We must bring the flesh under subjection.
Matthew 4 - Jesus says to satan after being tempted, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes out of the mouth of God.’”
Gods word is the only way to combat the enemy. Whenever we see Jesus addressed the adversary, he did so by quoting scripture.
Hebrews 12:14 (ESV)
14 Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.
Strive for peace
* Pursue (DEE-O-KO) to Follow after, Go after or ensue.
*if you want more of God, he will reveal
James said 1:If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.
John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance,
*This combines the horizontal (peace with everyone) and vertical (holiness) sides of the Christian life. Both aspects must be constant goals we strive to attain.
* Following the flesh we can become okay or be at peace in our mess.
1. I know what the word says but he knows my heart.
2. I do everything God ask but, this is what I can’t do.
3. I haven’t gotten over what happened the last time.
I cant seek revenge and strive for peace.
I can’t talk about you being your back and strive for peace
Even if you’ve wronged me….
Romans 12:19
Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”
Taking matters into your own hands will never work. In fact, its quite dangers.
1. It’s a dangerous thing to assume the position of God.
What do you mean? Whenever you step into that which is reserved for God, you are not attempting to operate in a position whereas you have no authority.
God didn’t say get even, he says venege is mine.
Luke 6: 35
35 But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil. 36 Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful.

hostile or opposing (God) in the mind.
