Received from the Lord

commanded=do this
To take the view that Jesus’ words regarding the bread and the cup are representative does not and should not reduce the Lord’s Supper to mere symbolism. The Supper is a rich and meaningful symbol that involves actual realities
Mark Taylor, 1 Corinthians, ed. E. Ray Clendenen, vol. 28, The New American Commentary (Nashville, TN: B&H Publishing Group, 2014), 273.

His death

He took bread, He took the cup. in Jewish homes the head of the home would perform this
Jeremiah 31:31–34 ESV
“Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, not like the covenant that I made with their fathers on the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, my covenant that they broke, though I was their husband, declares the Lord. For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people. And no longer shall each one teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.”

The Lord’s sacrifice for others

His Return

Luke 22:16–18 ESV
For I tell you I will not eat it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.” And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he said, “Take this, and divide it among yourselves. For I tell you that from now on I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”
He promised to return=covenant
when we entered into that covenant relationship with God through Jesus we also simultaneously entered into the covenant relationship with one another.....the Corinthians were not honoring this, they in fact were undermining it.
their theology was correct, like many of us, we know and understand but we undermine the truth and power of the covenant in our relationships with one another

Unworthy Manner

Not taking because of feeling unworthy
Those who take it without true examination-carelessly
They were treating this as a common meal

Disciplined of the Lord
