1. I have a tremendous love for children. I have two small girls of my own who are my world. Every day, I do my utmost to show them love, encouragement, and empathy. All children deserve such from their parents/guardians. I would cherish the opportunity to play a small part in providing the children of my area with such things.
2. I’ve always been less of a talker and more of a listener. My understanding of this position is that active listening is extremely important. I believe I do very well in this area.
3. I have a strong passion for justice. My Christian convictions instill in me the desire to see the hungry fed, the naked clothed, the innocent vindicated, the guilty condemned, and the weak protected. It would bring me great fulfillment to be a part of a system that seeks justice for the most innocent among us.
4. I consider myself to be a compassionate person. My understanding of this position is that compassion is required, not just for children but also for parents. There are no perfect parents, but sometimes a person needs a little patience and compassion to turn their life around. Every child deserves the chance to be reunited with parents who are the best versions of themselves.
I don’t know many people who are comfortable in confrontational situations, but I do know some who handle themselves very well in such circumstances. I believe myself to be one of those people. By nature, I am calm and relaxed and I put significant effort into remaining so in confrontational situations. I don’t believe yelling or getting loud is beneficial in tense situations. To me, the best policy is to remain calm, listen and think before speaking, and address the issue with kindness (as well as firmness, if the situation calls for such). I have proven to be skilled in de-escalation.
In my former position, I was expected to complete and present multiple lessons every week, as well as plan, schedule, and coordinate monthly programs and events. To be successful in achieving my weekly and monthly goals, I had to be very intentional about organizing, scheduling, and implementing each task.
In my former position, I was under general supervision, but on most occasions, I was expected to take initiative and not rely on directions. One such example was the building of an indoor playground. Without any direction or instruction, I sought financial support, raised funds, cleaned and refurbished the preferred area, designed the layout, ordered the equipment, and assembled the playground.
