In the beginning the Word was God and the Word was with God” (1:1)
14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.
We’ve spent 30 weeks walking through the 21 chapters of John-
and in it…We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. (1:14)
In some ways- it has felt like a nice steady pace to really dive deep.
But- at the same time- we barely scratched the surface
So…for one last time, let’s look at Jesus as God the Son.
This is fitting since John told us at the purpose of his gospel: “was that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.”
Jesus has always existed as God…yet the Word became flesh entering the realm of humanity, offering himself as a sacrifice to provide salvation for all who put their faith in Him.
Fully God and fully man, Jesus lived a perfect life, died for sinners, and rose from the grave in victory over sin and death.
And one day, God’s Son will return to earth, take His people to heaven, and judge the world in righteousness.
When we say Jesus is the son of God…what we are really trying to say…is that Jesus..is…God…
fully God..and fully man..
When you believe that Jesus is God the Son who came to earth and died on your behalf, you recognize your ultimate purpose in life is to love Him and give Him glory.
The gospel tells us that the most important pursuit in life
is knowing, serving, and following Jesus.
Just as Jesus called His disciples, He has called us to follow Him.
And just as they struggled, we will too.
But what Got them through was the Reminders of who Jesus is and what He has done.
What truths about Jesus strengthens your resolve to stay close to Him?
So while we’ve reached the end of our study, we’re certainly not done.
there is still work to do...
and God’s inviting you to join him in it, not just at BSF- but in all areas of your life…don’t let what you have learned here stay here…
God has prepared us to proclaim Jesus as the source of light and hope for the world.
Where is Jesus, God’s beloved Son, calling you, as He did Peter and the others, to follow Him and feed His sheep?
Jesus isn’t just our helper, provider, defender, deliverer, shepherd, and friend—
He’s God the Son—this world’s source of light and hope.
