Silver And Gold

Acts 3:6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. 7 And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. 8 And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.

To begin with Brothers and sisters I have several things to reveal in this powerful and potent text. The book of acts had said to be an extension of the Gospel of Luke with Dr Luke being the writer. In Chapter 1 the key phrases are 1. Jesus told the disciples to wait in Jerusalem until 2. They were endowed with the gift of the Holy Ghost. 3. As a result of obedience They recieved the Holy Ghost and began to speak in tongues.

In Acts Chapter 2 Peter preaches a powerful sermon and 3,000 souls are added to the Christian faith.

Then in Acts Chapter 3 Peter and John are going into the temple at 3 o clock in the evening for prayer service.

Saints of God don’t forget to pray. Pray each and everyday of your life. Anyway a man that was lame and cripple from birth was laid at the great Solomon’s Porch that is called Beautiful. The poor man had become a professional beggar.

He asked Peter and John for some money and Peter said look on us. Silver and Gold had I none but such as I have give I thee. In other words I can’t give you what you think you want but I can give you just what you need. Peter took the lame man by the right hand and said In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.

Acts 3:7-8 says that the lame man got healed. The lame man got up leaping and walking and shouting and praising God in the Temple. Hallelujah! He got his blessings and he stayed in the church. When God blesses us we ought to stay in the church. Don’t go no where else stay where your blessing is.

Then the bible says that a series of unprecedented events happened. I’ve got 22 points and I’ll be out of your way.

1. The bible says in Acts 3:11 They all rushed out in amazement to Solomon’s Colonnade, where the man was holding tightly to Peter and John.

The lame man held on to Peter and John and the people began to unrighteously honor Peter and John.

# 2.The late great Dr. Cleveland Washington of the Union Seminary in New Orleans taught us “That it’s good and right for the church to honor you, but don’t let them try to put you up there with God”. Preachers we’re not on the same level with God. I said that to say this “Peter said it wasn’t us, it was Jesus Christ of Nazareth that made this lame man be in perfect soundness”. 3x Thank you Jesus. God gets the glory Because “when Jesus fix you, you ain’t got to get fixed again”. Perfect Soundness.

3. Peter said don’t look so surprised because it was this same Jesus Christ of Nazareth that some of ya’ll same folk hollered out crucify him.. and even when violent Pilate was determined to let Him go, some of y’all demanded that Pilate release Barabbas a notorious murderer. Peter said in essence “y’all wanted a Murderer rather than a Messiah”. Yes in deed then #

4. Peter said y’all killed the Prince of Life Y’all killed MY Jesus. In Acts 3:15 The text teaches us about the Prince of Life. I looked up Prince of Life And in the Greek vernacular it is two words. The First word Prince is Ar-kay-gos (Archegos) and it means The Chief Leader. And then the second word is Life. Life in the Greek is the word Zoe . Zoe means that Jesus is ( get this nah “the life giving source for a lifetime and that life that Jesus gives us is vital and the nature of that life characterizes the eternality that only Jesus can give.

And the the back up scripture for this is Act 4:12 There is no other name under the heavens whereby men must be saved except the name of Jesus. The bible said it! I believe it! and I’ll put my life on it! Yes Sir.

#5. Now back to Acts 3 the people felt badly and guilty that were participants in the death of the Prince of Life. And they said to Peter what then shall we do? Peter said I’m glad you asked Peter said Repent and be converted Acts 3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; 20 And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you: 21 Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.

#6. Peter said Repent. Repentance is a Change of Mind. Peter said be converted. Conversion is a Change of Lifestyle And the Peter in Acts 3:21 spoke of Restitution. Jesus came to restore and repay our sin debt and buy us back out of the hand of the enemy because ADAM messed up in the garden of eden and mankind was doomed and destined to go to a low bottom hell. And Jesus is our Restitution. Teach us Pastor

# 7. All of the prophets spoke of Jesus in every book that he would be our Messiah. In Genesis he’s the seed of the woman in exodus He’s the Passover Lamb In Lev. He’s the High Priest in Numbers He’s the Skein ah Glory in Deuteronomy He’s the Law Giver . etc I’ve got a lot to tell you I can’t stay there too long.#

# 8. In Acts 3:25 -26 Peter said God made a Covenant with Israel. A covenant is a contract between God and mankind. It’s an agreement and in the Greek It’s called a Dee-ah-thay -kay (Diatheke’) a binding agreement between God and Mankind. Teach Me Pastor

#9. Now,,,, In Acts Chapter 4 the bible says that the Sanhedrin Council was red hot mad after hearing Peter and John Preaching in the Name of Jesus, and then For declaring that the resurrection of the dead is real, and for saying that Jesus is Lord of all Miracles especially the miracle of this lame man that they see in front of them now.

#10. The temple guards, the police, the lawman, the sheriff, and the secret service for the council grabbed Peter and John by the collar and threw them in jail. They spent a night in Jail! for preaching the Gospel. And so when the morning came Peter and John had to stand trial!!! before this kangaroo court of the Sanhedrin council.

#11. They asked Peter again by what name did you do this miracle? Peter told them In the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. In other words y’all ain’t forgot. Y’all remember what atrocities you did against the Lord’s Christ. Senator Jamie Rankin taught me last year that if people can get you to believe absurdities then they can convince you to commit atrocities.

#12. The Jewish Council wanted to hear Peter and John say it was Jehovah Adonai, Jehovah Rapha, Jehovah Nissi, Jehovah Jireah, Elshaddai, Elohim, But Not Jesus Christ of Nazareth ANY OTHER NAME OF GOD But the name of Jesus. And Peter said in essence I’m sorry that you don’t want to hear the truth. But It was Jesus of Nazareth that heal this lame man.

#13. The evidence is right there because the lame man is standing right there before them. He ain’t running away nowhere, so the Sanhedrin can not deny that a notable miracle has happened. But! they can’t take it. They can’t take the fact that the very man that they had Pilate crucify is the same one that’s coming up again. THE STONE THAT THE BUILDERS REJECT HAS BECOME THE CHIEF CORNER STONE Listen 3x Your haters can’t stand when God elevates you to a high status and station in life. They don’t ever want to see you do good. Believe that!!! I know I’m right about that.

#14. The council said step outside a minute. We have to have a private meeting about this stuff. They said fellows we can’t deny that a notable miracle has occurred. The lame man is over 40 years old. We’ve been seeing that boy his whole life over, yes indeed and out of all of the praying we’ve done none of us ever healed that boy like that.

#15. Brothers and sisters be sure to know that your sins will come and find you and point you out. The Sanhedrin Council with the Ananias the high priest Caiaphas the pharisees the elders the scribes and the Sadducees were all! guilty! But they can’t let Peter and John continue to talk about this man called Jesus. Because they knew what we did to Jesus was wrong! The old cliche says that Guilty dogs howl…

#16. Then they called Peter and John back in the council meeting and Said Y’all can’t talk in that man’s name anymore.( Sister Chanel said the other night that they didn’t even want to call Jesus’ Name. Boy that’s some hateration>> Peter said we can’t but speak the things that we’ve seen and heard. In other words like Dr. Ricky Carter used to say I’m too legit to quit. In other words y’all do what you want to but we’re sticking with Jesus.. Yes in deed.

#17. They saw that Peter and John was unlearned, uneducated, and did not have a command on the Aramaic and Hebrew language. In other words we can see that Peter and John ain’t been to nobody’s school or nobody’s seminary. Their subjects and verbs don’t ever conjugate, in modern time we’d say that they massacre English language. But we do see that THEY HAVE BEEN WITH THE LORD. Preachers! Folk got to see when you’ve been with the Lord.

#18. Peter’s Apologetic Defense suggest to us that we must be able to defend what we believe. The Sanhedrin Council had to let Peter nem go. And the real reason was because of the people, Yeah 3x The people saw the miracle. They people knew that Peter and John we legitimate Kerruso’ Kerruso in the Greek mean that they were Bonifided ministers and preachers of the Gospel. they weren’t booth leg.

# 19. Peter got out and went to the believer and the bible says that the Church then begins to pray to God for God’s Help in the matter. We have to learn to Pray to God for help. Acts 4:23-30 tells us that they prayed for God to intervene and as a result of their prayers Verse 31 tells us that God filled all of them with the Holy Ghost, And the Apostles preached with boldness. I always say don’t go unless you have the Lord on your side. And my Pastor the Late Great Sam Singleton use to say to me Ray take the Lord with you everywhere you go>>>> Hallelujah, Glory to God.

# 20. Act 4:32 tells us that the new Christian Church took some very pragmatic and practical steps to ensure the future of their newly formed Christian Church. They put their money where their mouths were. Talk is cheap but I was taught that Money talks and bull-corn walks. Put up or shut up.

# 21. In Acts 4:34-35 They gave their money and laid it at the Apostles feet. They trusted their pastor that he wouldn’t be a Rev do wrong. and that he would be a Bishop to build the body of Christ. OO wee teach me Pastor. “You supposed to put The money is there to build God’s Church!!! Don’t forget that.

Lastly #22. Barnabas stepped up and put respect on the church’s Name. He sold land and solidified the legitimacy of the newly formed Christian Church.

Listen good, God will always send somebody who has money, power, and influence to add legitimacy to His program. If you’re for building God’s Program then I’m for you. If you’re about conquer and divide then I’m against you. Because You’re on one side or the other. 1. One side is that The devil comes but to steal kill and destroy. 2. Jesus came that we have life and that we have it more abundantly. You choose. I choose to be on the right side of history. I’m on Jesus’ side Period.
