Introduction: Today is Palm Sunday. We recognize this day as the day in which Christ entered into Jerusalem by way of Bethpage. It is a day that leads up to the crucifixion of our Savior. Through the reading of the passage we will come to a much better understanding that we can trust in Him.
Thesis: Through the divine foreknowledge of our Lord, predictions fulfilled concerning Him, and the crowd’s own testimony we know that we can trust in the Lord.
All Knowing Lord
We can trust the Lord because He is omniscient. (v.2-4)
Prophesied Lord
We can trust in what the Bible says about Christ because whatever it predicts will come to pass. (v.5-7)
Zec. 9:9, Is. 62:11
Precise fulfillment
Colt
No one ever sat on him
Testified Lord
We can trust the Lord because the crowd testified to His exalted position. (v.8-11)
Garments-spread in the road, ancient sign of recognizing royalty
Blessed is He, Son of David-both these titles used by the crowd indicate their understanding of Who Christ is
Conclusion: Let’s act like the crowd and unlike those at Christ’s crucifixion, many of whom were present at His triumphal entry.
