Theme: When God asks you to do something, do it in faith confident that He will provide to accomplish His plan.
Context: In fleeing one of the most wicked monarchs and his horrendous wife, Elijah under the direction of God must go to Zarephath where he must meet a widow and her son and receive his sustenance through the prolonged drought in Israel.
V.8-9 Introduction
V.10 The prophet’s obedience and meeting with the widow in which he asks for some drink.
V.11 In bringing to him the water he now requests the impossible, some bread.
V.12 The grim reality; enough food for our last meal
V.13 The request: make some bread for me first and you’ll have enough for you and your son
V.14 The impossible promise: you will have enough in spite of the dearth
V.15 The response of faith: baking bread
V.16 The result of faith: there will be bread-God will provides to accomplish His plan
