Psalm 19; Hebrews 1:1-4
Introduction: What do you think when you look up into the sky? When you look at the sun, though not directly at it or you would go blind? Did you know that the Bible tells us that they are speaking to us? But not just any speech but telling us about someone. This Person is so important that they are speaking about that He has spoken through others as well and has even revealed Himself as a man to mankind to help mankind understand Him more.
Thesis: Through various mediums God has revealed Himself to men who should respond to His special revelation in obedience.
Because creation declares its Maker’s handiwork, we can know God.
The whole of the sky speaks to mankind of God’s craftsmanship.
Each day teaches man abundantly about Creator God.
Creation’s lecture transcends any language or part of the world.
The sun’s course draws man’s attention to God’s glory.
Because Scripture declares its Author’s character, we can know God.
Because God’s Word is complete it tells man completely how to be reconciled to God.
The testimony of the Bible’s Author is sure, and therefore able to make the simple or foolish wise to God.
God’s Divine orders are right (without wrong) and therefore able to bring joy to one’s heart.
God’s Divine orders are pure (without any defilement) and therefore able to bring understanding of life.
God’s manual for worship is without impurity and His completely true judgments are without wrong.
Because Christ is the perfect image of God, we can know God.
The Creator of the world has revealed Himself to His creation through His Son after speaking to His creation through other men.
Christ is the brightness of God’s glory.
Christ perfectly represents God to man.
He has made purification of sins.
He is seated at God’s right hand, further demonstrating His superior position to any created being.
Because we can know God we must diligently learn from Him and about Him to obey Him.
Because His Word is more precious than gold and sweeter than the finest dessert we must desire His Word above all else.
Because His Word brings great rewards to the reader, we must heed the cautions of His Word.
Because His Word convicts of sin and reveals the righteous works of believers, we must read His Word.
The Word convicts of secret sins.
The Word convicts of sins done in ignorance of God’s Word.
Knowledge of the Word keeps one from subjecting to sin, being blameless, and being forgiven of sin.
Because the Lord is our strength and Redeemer we must seek to have the right words and right thoughts.
Conclusion: Our great God has desired to make Himself known to mankind and is doing so everyday through His creation. But His creation is not enough to know all that we need to know about God so He has given us His Word, which we must obey, and His Son, Who is the exact representation of God. He is everything God is, because He is God.
