Are You Ok?

Self Assessment

Assessment: the evaluation or estimation of the nature, quality, or ability of someone or something

It's Okay to not be Ok?

6 It's Okays from the book of Psalms

1. It's Ok to ask Why?

Psalm 42:5a ESV
Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation

2. It's Ok to look inside for Clues

Psalm 42:3–4 ESV
My tears have been my food day and night, while they say to me all the day long, “Where is your God?” These things I remember, as I pour out my soul: how I would go with the throng and lead them in procession to the house of God with glad shouts and songs of praise, a multitude keeping festival.

Clue A. I'm living off of sorrow

Clue B. I'm focused on the enemy

Clue C. I'm stuck in what used to be

3. It's Ok to Get Honest with God

Psalm 42:9 ESV
I say to God, my rock: “Why have you forgotten me? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?”
Psalm 13:1–4 ESV
How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? How long must I take counsel in my soul and have sorrow in my heart all the day? How long shall my enemy be exalted over me? Consider and answer me, O Lord my God; light up my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death, lest my enemy say, “I have prevailed over him,” lest my foes rejoice because I am shaken.

4. It's Ok to ask for Help

Psalm 34:4 ESV
I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears.
Psalm 145:18–19 ESV
The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desire of those who fear him; he also hears their cry and saves them.
Psalm 20:1–2 NIV
May the Lord answer you when you are in distress; may the name of the God of Jacob protect you. May he send you help from the sanctuary and grant you support from Zion.

5. It's Ok to Go where the Help is

Psalm 43:2 ESV
For you are the God in whom I take refuge; why have you rejected me? Why do I go about mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?

6. It's Ok to Praise your way through

Psalm 34:1–3 KJV 1900
I will bless the Lord at all times: His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make her boast in the Lord: The humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. O magnify the Lord with me, And let us exalt his name together.
Psalm 43:5 ESV
Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God.

Confession

It's Ok that I'm sometimes not ok, but I will be Okay; because I'm trusting God to light my way, and lead the way.
