Titus 2:11–14 NIV84
11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. 12 It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, 13 while we wait for the blessed hope—the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.

Fingerprints of Godly Men

1. A godly man seeks God.

Matthew 6:33 “33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

We must be seeking God and depend on God

Proverbs 3:5–6 “5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”

2. A godly man is courageous.

1 Corinthians 16:13 “13 Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong.”
2 Samuel 10:7 “7 On hearing this, David sent Joab out with the entire army of fighting men.”
2 Samuel 10:12 “12 Be strong and let us fight bravely for our people and the cities of our God. The Lord will do what is good in his sight.””

3. A godly man is prepared.

1 Peter 3:15–17 “15 But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, 16 keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander. 17 It is better, if it is God’s will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.”

4. A godly man is forgiving.

Matthew 6:14–15 “14 For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.”

5. A godly man is intentional in relationships.

Philippians 2:3–4 “3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. 4 Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.”

6. A godly man has integrity and is honest.

Proverbs 19:1 “1 Better a poor man whose walk is blameless than a fool whose lips are perverse.”

7. A godly man is responsible.

Romans 14:12 “12 So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God.”

8. A godly man is generous.

2 Corinthians 9:6 “6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.”

9. A godly man is patient.

Exodus 14:14 “14 The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.””

10. A godly man is humble.

Ephesians 4:2 “2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.”
James 4:6 “6 But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.””
James 4:10 “10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.”
Luke 14:11 “11 For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.””
2 Chronicles 7:14 “14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
