Genesis 1:1-7

What did God have to do to create? Spoke
What did God use for creation? NOTHING
When God calls us, why is it so difficult?
Jonah and Nineveh; Joshua and Jericho; Naomi and Ruth
Genesis 18:9-15 - "The Laughter of Sarah"
In this narrative, Sarah, aged well beyond what could be regarded as childbearing years, was promised by God that she would bear a son. Sarah laughed in disbelief at the idea because she considered it impossible. Nevertheless, God fulfilled His promise, indicating that no matter how impossible a task may appear to us, it's always possible for God.

The Omnipotence of God – Genesis 1

The chapter of Genesis 1 reveals the unfettered power of God in creation. His power goes beyond our limited human understanding. As we grapple with the concept of "nothing is too hard for us," we should remember that our abilities are a reflection of God's image in us, yet His own power is limitless.
When we doubt our calling, we are doubting the One who gave us our calling.

The Insignificance of Man – Genesis 1:26

Despite this great power, God chose to create humankind "in His own image". On one hand it makes us capable of great things, it also serves as a humbling reminder of our insignificance when compared to His grandeur. Therefore, when we think "nothing is too hard for us", we should also remember that all our abilities are gifts from our Creator and should be used in service to Him and others.

God - The Source of All Possibilities

The phrase, "but for God, all things are possible" reminds us of God's supreme power and reign over the natural world.
Genesis 1 paints this picture stunningly — God speaks, and the cosmos comes into being.
Understanding this underscores the fact that any milestone, achievement, or triumph we may have is not by our efforts alone, but through the divine orchestration of possibilities by God.
Genesis 1:1 - "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. "This verse starts the Bible and sets the stage for everything we know about God's omnipotence. It is a powerful reminder that before anything existed, there was still God, demonstrating His power to bring everything into existence from nothing.
Jeremiah 32:17 - "Ah Lord GOD! behold thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is noting too hard for thee.
"This verse directly addresses our inability to do certain things while emphasizing that there is nothing too difficult for God. It reemphasizes the idea from Genesis that it is God who has created everything we see. What happened to the outstretched arms of Christ on the cross?
Matthew 19:26 - "*But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
”Jesus' words here perfectly encapsulate His calling and intention for us. "WITH GOD"While human beings may find certain tasks impossible, nothing is beyond God's capabilities.
James 1:2-8 - “My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into diverse temptations. Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ya may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like the wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
