Matthew 9:27–38 KJV 1900
And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou Son of David, have mercy on us. And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord. Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you. And their eyes were opened; and Jesus straitly charged them, saying, See that no man know it. But they, when they were departed, spread abroad his fame in all that country. As they went out, behold, they brought to him a dumb man possessed with a devil. And when the devil was cast out, the dumb spake: and the multitudes marvelled, saying, It was never so seen in Israel. But the Pharisees said, He casteth out devils through the prince of the devils. And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.
Jesus commands the forces of both the seen and unseen, yet humbly embraces the shackles of human vulnerability.
When I was in my teens, I went through a rebellious stage. I know it's hard to believe!!! I would find any way to get out of church with my family. On many Saturday nights, I would take off with friends and have "adventures." Dad remembers some.
One Monday morning after a weekend of "adventure," my mom drove us kids to school in our sweet, white Mercury Sable Station wagon. After dropping my three siblings off at Bates Elementary in Courtland, we continued to drive me to Delta High School. With "Family Radio" playing, which told me I was in for a spiritual conversation, my mom told me about her time of rebellion. I do not remember the conversation, but I can tell you the part that stuck in my mind and will stay there forever.
My mom told me, in a voice that showed sternness and compassion, that although she did all these things, she never denied her Savior. She told me that she took Jesus' words seriously when He said that if man were to deny Him before men, He would deny us before His Father.
My mom took a tense situation and allowed herself an opportunity to glorify God.
Faithway here are three reasons to see the vast harvest as an opportunity to let God use us for His glory!

Tense Situations Lead to Opportunities to Glorify God

A little boy forgot his lines in a Sunday school presentation. His mother was in the front row to prompt him. She gestured and formed the words silently with her lips, but it did not help. Her son's memory was blank. Finally, she leaned forward and whispered the cue, "I am the light of the world." The child beamed and with great feeling and a loud clear voice said, "My mother is the light of the world."
Bits and Pieces, August, 1989.
The blind men and the mute demon possesed man are obvious shows of tense situations that ended up glorifying God.
Jesus went all over the place. Matthew says that he preached in all of the cities and villages. The big cities; Elk Grove, Sacramento, L.A., S.F.. And the little cities; Ione, Courtland, Hood, Wilton. Then Matthew tells us that he healed everyone!!! Not just the rich or the poor. Not just the Democrats or the Republicans.
By the way; at Faithway if your a Democrat, you are welcome here! If your a Republican, you are welcome here! If you are an independent, you are welcome here! If you’re a Green Party, didn’t you notice that we didn’t have any paper handouts?
If you cheer for the Giants, Athletics, Dodgers, you are welcome here. If you cheer for the Padres, were not sure about you.
Romans 2:11 KJV 1900
For there is no respect of persons with God.
No favoritism with God.
God does not love Baptist more than .….
James 2:1 KJV 1900
My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons.
John 3:16 KJV 1900
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
1 John 2:1–2 KJV 1900
My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
Jesus is the sacrifice for our sins.
Moms, you all have been called of God to raise and nurture your children. But if you have not recieved the eternal life giving nurture from God by receiving Jesus as your Savior, the labor of motherhood wont mean a thing in the eyes of God.
But if you have received Jesus as your Savior, your motherhood can be charged by His power and your sacrifices of faith will be richly rewarded by Him.
Parents have unspoken favorites. Your all say you don’t but you do.

Tenacious Simplifications of Resentful Religionists

The Pharisees are starting their attack ads against Jesus.
They are starting to use derogatory remarks against Him to sway people to vote for them.
“It can never happen”
“people are just looking to be entertained”
“we live in a closed off world”
Jesus does not respond in kind. Look at Jesus’ tactics:
Mark 3:23–27 KJV 1900
And he called them unto him, and said unto them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan? And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand. And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end. No man can enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house.
Jesus reminds the Pharisees that the prince of the devils tells them to steal, kill, and destroy. He will never stop his minions from actively creating chaos. The devil never returns someone to their right mind or operation.
So it can and is happening!
People are looking for sincere relationships!
The world is closed off to closed off people, but not to the power of the Gospel!
John 10:10–11 KJV 1900
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
This life that Jesus gives you is ment to glorify Him and use us imperfect blind and mute people in ways unnatural to us.
Our natural use of our strength is often to slander others until they give up and become like us, at least on the outside. But God tells us
Titus 3:2 KJV 1900
To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men.
“Slander no one”
This slandering of the Pharisees will lead to the crucifixion of Christ.
Leadership note: No such thing as “constructive criticism.” All criticism stings! Two things people must have, if they do not possess these two things then turn around and walk away leaving their criticism on the floor.

Telling Statement of the God Man

Jesus looks at the crowd and experiences something that we can understand. His bowels ache.
Motherhood and Compassion.  A few days ago I made a marvelous discovery. In the Hebrew language of the Old Testament the word for “compassion” comes from the root word, “womb.” The picture is of a birthing. Something new is being born. If I apply this in a human experience, it means that my compassionate acts always give the other person another chance. I do not hold past failures against them. I offer a “fresh start.” I want this for myself from others. Am I willing to give it to the other person? Such compassion will dramatically change the way we relate to each other.

The Opportunity: The greatness of the Harvest and lack of workers
People are faint, unable to produce the work that would satisfy our Holy God.
People are tired:
Illustration here: Man trying to put out a fire with a bucket
The people were scattered abroad, sin has taken its hold on people and throws us every which way but God’s.
Romans 5:12 KJV 1900
Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
Sin is activity that is contrary to God’s will, because of sin people get involved in all kinds of wickedness. Fornication, adultery, idolatry, murder of the unborn, falsely accusations, shoplifting, and a love for country music.
“I get drunk, my wife left, my kids left, my dog died, and my tractor got repossessed.”
“O, I’ve got friends in low places.”
The Solution: Pray (beg) God to dispatch laborers
1 Peter 2:25 KJV 1900
For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.
Your Part: Pray and Pick The Fruit
Most people give multiple excuses for not going out and intentionally picking fruit. But the biggest reason is because of the nature of the work. It is work!!!
Faithway, Jesus is saying that if we beg God for the laborers, He will drive someone out of where they are (laziness, business, Texas) and dispatch them to us.
John 10:4 KJV 1900
And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.
John 10:11 KJV 1900
I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
Conclusion:
If you have not trusted Christ as your Savior, understand that He loves you! He has butterflies in His stomach every time He sees you, which is all the time!
Your life is missing something, and when tense situations present themselves, you have a choice! You can try to fix it yourself and faint. Or you can trust the One that already fixed it. When the resentful religionists ignore you or try to make you fit into their box, you have a choice! You can get bitter or you can trust that Jesus does not have favorites, He died for you as well. When you feel like butter spread upon too much toast (Bilbo Baggets), you can pray and beg Jesus to give you strength and bring laborers into the harvest you are called to reap.
