Ephesians 5:15-17 (ESV)
I. TEACH US
I. TEACH US
Psalm 90 stresses time and how it passes, as can be seen from the various time-related vocabulary throughout, such as “days” (vv. 4, 9, 12, 14, 15) and “years” (vv. 4, 9–10, 15). Further, it describes God as eternal and unchanging “in all generations” (v. 1) and “from everlasting to everlasting” (v. 2).[1]
Psalm 39:4 (ESV) — 4 “O Lord, make me know my end and what is the measure of my days; let me know how fleeting I am!
4 “O Lord, make me know my end and what is the measure of my days; let me know how fleeting I am!
Wisdom” here, as typically in Proverbs, is skill in the art of godly living, and its place is indeed in the “heart,” the center of one’s thinking, desiring, and choosing (Prov. 2:10; 4:23); it is coupled with the proper “fear” of God (Pss. 90:11; 111:10; Prov. 1:7; 9:10; 14:2). Wisdom in Proverbs also orients toward the well-being of the whole community of God’s covenant people, the focus of this psalm.[2]
