Deliverance for the Women of God

Joshua 2:9–11 ESV

and said to the men, “I know that the Lord has given you the land, and that the fear of you has fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land melt away before you. For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea before you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan, to Sihon and Og, whom you devoted to destruction. And as soon as we heard it, our hearts melted, and there was no spirit left in any man because of you, for the Lord your God, he is God in the heavens above and on the earth beneath.

Pray and ask the Lord for ministering to the Body and Deliverance

Rahab a woman whose legacy is such that it is recorded here. Contemplate the intentionality of God to surface not just the name but reputation of such a person… in the work of setting the captives free her story/testimony echoes forward in time to speak of a deliverance needed more now than ever before.

God is so intentional consider this:

there was no gain for Israel to overtake Jericho,

they burned it to the Ground

killed all the people

killed all the live stock

saved only the things considered precious to the Lord

the Gold silver was reserved for the finance of the house of the Lord

Rahab was saved alive…

While some may consider this conjecture… The more time I spend studying this section there was one reason why God wanted Israel to plunder Jericho

He went after the one

His love Rahab provokes not only Salvation but a long awaited Deliverance

Today being a day we celebrate Mother’s it would seem fitting Holy Spirit would move us into this direction

Yes, this sermon deals with the Women in the room (Mothers, Daughters, Sisters) but it is just as important for the men to hear this and as the women are directed to be led by the Spirit so they should do as well…

Today we contend for a deliverance to the people of God that are tired of living captive to an enemy that has suppressed, bound, and distorted their person, identity subjugating them to abuses/assaults from every which angle.

In Search of Value

There are two warring sides contending for the life of Rahab

One has come to set her free, the other seeks to deny her freedom.

Joshua 2:1-3 tell an account One side being the Lord and the other being the ruler of this world

Joshua 2:3 ESV

Then the king of Jericho sent to Rahab, saying, “Bring out the men who have come to you, who entered your house, for they have come to search out all the land.”

By command of the living God… go and search the Land

“Especially Jericho… there is something there I am after

God uses the human agent to bring freedom to the captive

By command of the earthly ruler “…they’ve come to search the land”

They are going to take away your livelihood… they’ve come to overtake your peace and

Who told them of what God had done? How does Rahab even know about the greatness of what God had done? How often was it stated in a way of distorting their view of self in relation to God

God hates women “look at all the women and their treatment in the bible”

God wants men to suppress women

It is a lie God is not for you… if He was why do men get all the glory

Who needs God anyways???

You’re a strong independent woman who don’t need no man…

“Yes, from the cross forward men have not known how to carry the assignment of manhood and yes, we (men) have been responsible for some horrendous atrocities on women… ( we will deal with that another day)

It was God who was so concerned with the life of this one woman who sends warriors in to bring her deliverance… It is this same work God is doing this very day

Not only has salvation come… Your deliverance has come

The Enemies of Womanhood

Bloodline: Somewhere in Rahab’s blood line someone decided to bless her with a name such that is cursed even before she is born.

name means: rude, loud, insolent, proud arrogant

the Storm

Job Psalm and Isaiah:

Sea-monster

Master of the sea

Today maybe it is not your name but things have been spoken to you; curses spoken over you before birth; or outright witchcraft found in your ancestry

too stupid to do anything

what do you know… you’re just a girl

too weak

not good enough; all you will ever attract is drama

now that you’re … older, have had children, are divorced, your bodycount is too high… no one is going to want you

since you have been abused, you will always be damaged goods.

Society: it was once a point of honor for women to not be promiscuous, but, in the advent of toxic femininity it has flipped to say if men can we can… even when it was never supposed to be that way… (men should care to preserve themselves as much women should)

It is my body it’s my choice… to hell with the consequences

I can have emotionless sex with whoever I want

Abortion is through the roof… never-mind, this was common practice then as a sacrifice to Moloch (not bringing shame… now to restore)

If my body can make me money, buy me favors, earn my way into something then I should be able to use it (explosion of porn)

besides its not my fault men are stupid and are willing to pay for it… (Men we have a problem) \

Let me introduce you to the Unclean Spirits Rahab was dealing with that now is besieging womanhood

v.11 “…for the Lord your God, He is God in the heavens above, and the earth below”

yet, she was held captive in the city walls, she had relinquished her womanhood, her humanity, and dawned on the identity of the things spoken to her, curses made over her life, the abuses she had been subjected to, the things society said she was… she became proud of being a prostitute

how many people look at their trauma as a point of pride

this society celebrates your victimization… (you’ve been victimized in how many ways… well I have more”

Yet in the loneliness I wonder how many times she confessed in the God she knew about… How many times did she cry out God where were you? God help me!! God Please… how many months, how many years

Not knowing salvation had arrived and now deliverance would occur

From Salvation to Deliverance

where do I get the conjecture that God was after 1 (Rahab)

Josh 5:13

when they arrived into Jericho there is an angel standing sword drawn

He was witness to the injustices that had occured, (innocent blood)

Neither for Joshua nor the enemy

v.14 “I am the commander of the army of the Lord”

I have arrived and am ready to war

this ground has become Holy Ground (Take your sandals off)

Waiting for the warriors (men to arrive to do their part)

Never a time when an injustice has occured that God is not ready to restore… and destroy the corruption

Even so now it is the case… Holy Ground, not just salvation but deliverance is here

Last Ditch Effort

Joshua 6:1 ESV

Now Jericho was shut up inside and outside because of the people of Israel. None went out, and none came in.

fortified and hermetically sealed.

You cannot be delivered until you confess, the enemy knows this so he has locked you up inside and out…

your body wounded

your mind wounded

your soul wounded

You have had to keep your mouth shut fear, denial,

but the Lord has heard your cry… He has seen your bitterness… He knows your every scar and is saying this day Your deliverance has come

Steps for Your Deliverance

Confess: You are not the sum of your mistakes nor are you what others have spoken, confess your hurt bitterness, wounds, sins to the Lord stop carrying / you have tried to make it right on your own for far too long

the trumpet is now sounding… Towers started to fall…(strongholds)

Romans 12 do not conform to this world… renew your mind… discern the will of the Lord

fire “esh” consumed all the things that did not belong

Reject and Renounce: the lies word curses societal pressures of this world

Cry out to the Lord and believe in your Deliverance

Petition for your bloodline

In the work leading to Rahab’s deliverance she pleaded for the move of the Lord over everyone in here family

She goes on to marry Salmon which means a new covering… In lesser words she dawned on the identity which the enemy had longed denied her… she would be mother to Boaz, grandmother to David, Grandmother several generations later to Jesus

This is why the enemy fought her… this is why the enemy sealed her into the wall and had her believing she was simply a proud arrogant prostitute… she fought her battle, the Lord Brought salvation, and through the human agent He brought deliverance
