In this sermon, Pastor Kevin establishes a foundation for a series of sermons through Genesis. Why Genesis? Because, a solid commitment to the entirety of Scripture is necessary for building a church that stands the test of time, one that is deeply rooted in the Word, fervent in love for Christ and His people, and committed to the expansion of His kingdom. Drawing from Ephesians 6, Pastor Kevin paints a vivid picture of the cosmic battle Christians are engaged in—a battle not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces of evil. Christians ought to recognize the spiritual warfare raging around them, a warfare often disguised amidst the allurements and oppositions of the world.

1) Identification of the War Zone:

If you are a Christian you are not merely a bystander but active participants in a spiritual war. Failure to acknowledge this reality undermines the Christian witness in the world.

2) Source of Strength:

Our strength to engage in this batter is not in human efforts but in the Lord's might. We must therefore put on the full armor of God because we need divine empowerment in the face of spiritual opposition.

3) Understanding the Enemy:

We need to understand the nature of the enemy—Satan and his cohorts—who seek to undermine God's work and oppose His people. Do not underestimate this spiritual opposition.

4) Equipping for Battle:

The sermon culminates in a practical exhortation to equip oneself spiritually for the battle ahead. Through the imagery of the armor of God, each piece—truth, righteousness, readiness from the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, and the Word of God—is highlighted as indispensable for standing firm against the schemes of the evil one.

Throughout the sermon, there is a sense of urgency and conviction, a call to arms for the congregation to awaken to the reality of spiritual warfare and to arm themselves accordingly. It's a rallying cry for a church poised not only to survive but to thrive in the face of opposition, rooted firmly in God's Word and empowered by His Spirit.
