Know Your Position with Christ

Raised with Christ. Ephesians 2:6 “and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,”
Hidden with Christ in God. 1 Peter 1:3–5 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”

Fix Your Attention Upon Christ

We are told to seek (pursue) things which are above. Where Christ is! Matthew 6:33 “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
We are told to set our minds on the things which are above. Romans 8:5 “For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.”
Christ is your life! You have eternal life in Him. You have the hope of glory in Him. You are complete in Him (2:9)

Walk in Sanctification in Christ

We are glorified in Christ. 1 John 3:2 “Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is.”
We are told to put to death our former walk in sin. Sanctification comes as we focus on Jesus. You and I now have a choice, as believers our will has been awakened and empowered to resist sin. The most effective form or resistance is refocusing on Christ.
We are to walk dead to the world, but alive unto God.
Romans 6:11–14 ESV
So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, to make you obey its passions. Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness. For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.
Galatians 6:14 ESV
But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.
The Aurora occurs when charged particles from the sun slam into the earth’s atmosphere and the magnetic field pulls the electrically charged atoms toward the poles. They emit light because they are at an “excited state”. Similarly, when Christ enters your life you are changed.
O soul, are you weary and troubled, no light in the darkness you see? There’s light for a look at the Savior, and life more abundant and free.
Through death into life everlasting He passed and we follow Him there. O’re us sin no more has dominion, for more than conquerors we are.
Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face, And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace.
