Jesus Did Nothing of Himself, But What God the Father Did

I. Jesus the Will of God the Father

John 5:19-20 19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.

A. God the Father Loved Jesus

20 For the Father loveth the Son,

B. God the Father Showed Jesus All Things

and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.”

C. God the Father Raised up the Dead, Even Jesus

John 5:21 “21 For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will.”

D. God the Father Doesn’t Judge Men, Jesus Does

John 5:22 “22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:”

E. All Men Are to Honor God Son, Jesus Like They Honor God the Father

John 5:23 “23 That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.”

II. We Are to Do Everything in Words or Deeds

A. in the Name of the Lord Jesus

Colossians 3:17 “17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus,

B. Giving Thanks to God and the Father by Jesus

giving thanks to God and the Father by him.”

C. The Reason That We Do It, is That Every Tongue Should Confess That Jesus is Lord

Philippians 2:11 “11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,

D. Also to Glorify God the Father

to the glory of God the Father.”

III. We Are God’s Workmanship

A. We Are Created in ChristJesus

Ephesians 2:10 “10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus

B. Unto Good Works

unto good works,

C. God Ordained That We Should Walk in Good Works

which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”
