Admiral William H. McRaven wrote a book titled “Make Your Bed.” The entire book is based off the idea that if you want to complete tasks you have start by completing a task. The idea is to start with the smallest task it makes completing other tasks much easier. If you start your day on task and feeling accomplished it’ll be easier to finish your day productive and accomplished. It’s a good book especially if you struggle or enjoy procrastination because lets be honest sometimes procrastination is enjoyable. I want to encourage you with that idea. However, There is more…
Jesus. Many of you are about to embark on the biggest journey you have ever been on. Life is going to change once the hat is thrown and the parties are done. You will either go onto college or find a way to settle into the rest of your life. You will need the support of your family, friends, and yes, Jesus.
Accepting Jesus Christ into your life is making your bed. Everyday as you check that small task invite Jesus into your day.
But the Bible says he wants to have an abundant life.
Jesus wants to walk with you throughout the day. He wants to help you overcome depression and anxiety. He was to help you overcome procrastination. He wants to empower you for good things.
Listen. It doesn’t matter your story. You are not your past mistakes. I was told by a mentor of mine a long time ago that just because it took me a long time to make a mistake it doesn’t mean I should continue making it. Jesus wants to bring you into alignment. He wants to bring you into acceleration. He desire to bless you and keep you. He wants to walk with you every day. He doesn’t want to just be a part of your day he wants to accelerate and infuse it with the joy of the Lord. He wants to strengthen you with joy peace and understanding.
Yea relationships take work. A true relationship with God isn’t a wasted relationshiplaureat You. He won’t. Let you down. The word says he will never leave you nor forsake you. He will still closer to you than brother. How many of you have really good friends? A brother or a sister. One that uplift and encourages. He wants to do that and more because he isn’t bound by this world like our friends our. He has a purpose and plan for your life. He. Desires to own doors. Some of you maybe questioning what’s next. He has the answers. Some of you may know what’s next. He has success in the future. You stand for Him and he will fight for you. Gods word says if I for you who can be against you. The pi may be sitting here with the world stacked against you. To you I say let’s knock down the walls. For those who have everything going for you. Let’s get on the airport walking escalator and accerator.God has promises for you.
There are 3 encouragements that I want to leave you with
Give it to God
3 Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.
Wehn we start off committing the day to Jesus our plans will be established. What does that mean? Simply it means that God will direct you and give you direction. That when you follow His directions they will not fail. Jesus desires to set you up for success.
Another one like this is
6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
There are gurus who make millions giving this advice: Show me your friends and I will show you your future.
Those who you will follow will determine where you end up.
If you follow Christ, who has all the details worked out than you are likely to succeed.
2. Be courageous
9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Fear is a fickle emotion. The reality is most of us have to learn to be afraid. You aren’t born fearful. I bet if you ask your parents many o f you jump off couches, climbes big huge rocks, I mean mountains, and went to dangerous backyards.
Millionares will tell you that in order to make millions you have to do things no one has ever done. People will come against and your own emotions will try to stop you, but if you know you are following Jesus than the territory isn’t unsafe. Your plans will succeed.
The bible tells us that perfect love casts out all fear. I learned from my first real relationship that if I have to worry about someone cheating on me ; I’m not actually in a loving relaitonship because if there was real love I wouldn’t be experiencing real fear.
3. Be yourself
2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
There are 2 statements
Be yourself
We’ve talked alot about God’s will and the way you find God’s will is discernment. What is discernment.
The dictionary defines discernment as: The ability to make a smart judgement about something. Jesus sent his Spirit to help us to make those judgements. You aren’t alone in this world. The world will try to convince you to be like them, but embrace who God made you to be. The bible is an amazing start to figuring out who God made you to be. God designed you and like the debacle of how to hang toilet paper it’s always easiest to look at the blueprints of the original creator to figure out the original design.
if you get nothing from tonight I want you to get this:
Start your day with Jesus,
Follow his path and it will be successful
Be who God made you to be
