Luke 4:31–37 NKJV
31 Then He went down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and was teaching them on the Sabbaths. 32 And they were astonished at His teaching, for His word was with authority. 33 Now in the synagogue there was a man who had a spirit of an unclean demon. And he cried out with a loud voice, 34 saying, “Let us alone! What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Did You come to destroy us? I know who You are—the Holy One of God!” 35 But Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be quiet, and come out of him!” And when the demon had thrown him in their midst, it came out of him and did not hurt him. 36 Then they were all amazed and spoke among themselves, saying, “What a word this is! For with authority and power He commands the unclean spirits, and they come out.” 37 And the report about Him went out into every place in the surrounding region.

Exploring the Gospel of Luke: An Expository Commentary (1) He Commands the Demons (4:31–37)

The man interrupted the service with a demonic scream. “Let us alone!”

This demon-possessed in the Synagogue. What does this tell us? The devil even shows up to church.
Satan took over a man and took him to church.
Here this man is in the synagogue screaming. The religious people had no answer But with a command the Lord Jesus Christ ruled over this evil spirit (v. 35). He has the power and the right to control even the forces of darkness, to command Satan and his minions.
Luke 4:35 (NKJV)
35 But Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be quiet, and come out of him!” And when the demon had thrown him in their midst, it came out of him and did not hurt him.

Your mouth be muzzled, and come out of him at once. And the demon, having violently hurled him to the ground into the midst, came out of him and did not injure him in any possible way

We live in an evil world, but Jesus is in control.
Luke 4:36 NKJV
36 Then they were all amazed and spoke among themselves, saying, “What a word this is! For with authority and power He commands the unclean spirits, and they come out.”
Exalting Jesus in Luke Authority over Demons (4:33–37)

Amazement came over them all.” When you think about what a demon is, this really is amazing. A demon is a fallen angel who rebelled with Satan against God and was cast from heaven. They are committed to opposing God’s rule and everything God does. They hate God and hate God’s people. Their entire mission is to resist God. But when Jesus speaks, demons tremble

Luke 4:37 NKJV
37 And the report about Him went out into every place in the surrounding region.
This report would be heard by some who would believe. Last week the nobleman.
The woman with the issue of blood.
But also the religious leaders.
