Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone.
doing evil is never any good
do what is right
it has to be deliberate, it has to be planned. it has to be carefully done
we must try to do good for everyone
If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.
let be realistic here
it not always possible
no matte rhow hard we try
we know there are some that cannot be pleased
peace is our desired outcome
it comes from wisdom, from life and much practice
But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.
Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord.
maturity is to allow God to deal with the offence
revenge is evil, forgiveness is righteous
there is still more ways
On the contrary: “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”
feed your enemy
give him drink
clothe him
bless him with right stuff
burning coals means bringing judgement
doing good has a divine outcome - conviction and repentance
Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
