How do we get faith?

Homiletical Idea: god has provided the means whereby everyone can have faith!
Hebrews 11:6 CSB
Now without faith it is impossible to please God, since the one who draws near to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
Just think of this- If God demanded that we have faith when it is impossible for us to have faith then we could challenge His Justice
but If he places within our hands the means to grow in our faith , and faith can be produced- THEN THE RESPONSIBILITY FALLS ON US
WHETHER OR NOT WE WILL PRODUCE FAITH IN OUR LIVES

Faith in Salvation:

Ephesians 2:8 CSB
For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift—
We are Saved by faith!
What is faith: Romans 10:8-10
Romans 10:8–10 CSB
On the contrary, what does it say? The message is near you, in your mouth and in your heart. This is the message of faith that we proclaim: If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation.
Romans 10:13 CSB
For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
Romans 10:17 CSB
So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the message about Christ.
Faith comes by Hearing - Hearing the word of God
The Word of God is so important to producing faith in our lives
It is the Word of Faith that we proclaim
The Word of God is the Revelation of God and His will and it is what we believe and act on
Salvation faith in three steps (Romans 10:8-10)
confess
Believe
Accept or receive
To whom is salvation for ?
Romans 10:13 CSB
For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
Where Does faith Come from?
Romans 10:17 CSB
So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the message about Christ.
You want to produce faith in your life, get into the Word of God
Faith come through the Word of God!
Acts 11:13–14 CSB
He reported to us how he had seen the angel standing in his house and saying, ‘Send to Joppa, and call for Simon, who is also named Peter. He will speak a message to you by which you and all your household will be saved.’
God instructed Cornelius to send for Peter in order to hear the message of Salvation!
Jesus told His followers
Mark 16:15 CSB
Then he said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.
Go into all the World!
Cornelius had not yet heard this message of the gospel, and wasn’t saved!
God told Him to send for Peter so that He could learn and hear God’s plan of salvation
Acts 11:14 CSB
He will speak a message to you by which you and all your household will be saved.’
He will speak- the Reason is beacause Romans 10:17
Romans 10:17 CSB
So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the message about Christ.

Faith for Healing:

Acts 14:7–10 CSB
There they continued preaching the gospel. In Lystra a man was sitting who was without strength in his feet, had never walked, and had been lame from birth. He listened as Paul spoke. After looking directly at him and seeing that he had faith to be healed, Paul said in a loud voice, “Stand up on your feet!” And he jumped up and began to walk around.
Notice how the man was healed
It wasn’t because of the Apostle Paul
he wasn’t healed through Paul’s faith
The Man was healed by His own faith!
Paul did three things:
He preached the Gospel (Acts 14:7)
He saw the man’s faith to be healed (Acts 14:9)
He told the Man to get up and walk (Acts 10:10)
The Man did three things:
He Heard Paul Preach (Acts 14:9)
He had faith to be healed (Acts 14:9)
He got up and walked (Acts 14:10)
the man was not healed by some power that Paul had,
The Mans faith was what made Him whole
He believed and he recieved
Paul confessed
Where did the Man get the faith to be healed?
What did Paul Speak?
Paul preached the Gospel of salvation and healing
Romans 1:16 CSB
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, first to the Jew, and also to the Greek.
Romans 10:9 CSB
If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

sozo (σώζω, 4982), “to save,” is translated by the verb “to heal” in the KJV of Mark 5:23 and Luke 8:36 (RV, “to make whole”;

This same word is used
Mark 6:56 CSB
Wherever he went, into villages, towns, or the country, they laid the sick in the marketplaces and begged him that they might touch just the end of his robe. And everyone who touched it was healed.
Do we believe that God keeps His promises?
1 Peter 2:24 CSB
He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree; so that, having died to sins, we might live for righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.
Salvation and healing flow from the same body that was hung on that Cross
He bore our sins
He also bore our sickness
Faith comes from hearing this message
This is the full Gospel, and it is the message Paul preached, that produced faith in this mans life
Acts 8:5–8 (CSB)
Philip went down to a city in Samaria and proclaimed the Messiah to them. The crowds were all paying attention to what Philip said, as they listened and saw the signs he was performing. For unclean spirits, crying out with a loud voice, came out of many who were possessed, and many who were paralyzed and lame were healed. So there was great joy in that city.
The Great Miracles that took place came about as a result of Phillip’s preaching Christ.
The New Testament knows no Christ without Christi the healer.
Physical healing is part of the Gospel, if there is no gospel there is no healing today!

Faith in Action:

P.C. Nelson, who was many years a baptist minister said, “Healing is part and parcel of the Gospel.”
While pastoring a church in Detroit, Michigan, in 1921, He was struck by an automobile. the doctors said his left leg probably would have to be amputated. Even if they didn’t have to take it off, it would be stiff
As He lay in his bed, James 5:14-15 came to him
James 5:14–15 CSB
Is anyone among you sick? He should call for the elders of the church, and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. The prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the Lord will raise him up; if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
Dr. Nelson tried to excuse himself to the Lord by saying that they didn’t practice this in his church. The Lord reminded him that he had for Spirit-filled friends who believed in it, and He told Dr. Nelson to call them to come and pray for him. They came to his home, anointed him, and prayed the prayer of faith for him.
HE WAS HEALED
HIS LEG DIDN’T HAVE TO BE REMOVED AND IT WAS NEVER STIFF
FAITH COMES BY HEARING THE WORD OF GOD!
DR. KENNETH HAGGIN, as a young baptist boy, was laying sick on his bed. He was reading his Grandma Drake’s “Methodist” Bible, He realized that he had never heard the full gospel, just part of it. the More he read, the more he saw that he didn’t have to die. The more he studied the Bible, the more he realized he could be healed
He writes, “Of course the devil was right there, bringing to remembrance all the doubt and unbelief I had ever heard. He told me that healing had been done away with.
I also had to struggle with the teaching that God would heal if he wanted to.
I read Mark 5:34
Mark 5:34 CSB
“Daughter,” he said to her, “your faith has saved you. Go in peace and be healed from your affliction.”
Jesus didn’t say that His power had made her whole, he said “Your faith!”
When I saw this, i knew then that if her faith had made her whole, my faith could make me whole. And thank God it Did
My paralysis disappeared, my heart condition became normal and I’ve been going at a hop, skip, and jump ever since, preaching the gospel in its fulness for more than 50 years.
Faith is action is believing that God is who He says He is, and He will fulfill ever promise He has given!
This faith comes through the word of God
James 1:22 CSB
But be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
Memorize this verse
Romans 10:17 CSB
So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the message about Christ.
