Proverbs 27:17

4 Things for men to be committed too....
Worship-
Consider King David, he was not a perfect man, he did wrong and right in the site of the Lord but he was consider a “man after God’s own heart” I Sam 13:14...
David after becoming King and after taking the city of Zion, Jerusalem in 2 Samuel, we find that one of his first practices was to bring the house of the Lord, the tabernacle to the City God had chosen.
But his aim was to build a even greater house to the Lord his God, so that there would be a permanent place of worship..
He did these things because he knew the Lord was worthy of the worship of His people. and He considered it of upmost important.
Now for us, we can have the same kind of desire to worship and honor the Lord as we live as Temples o the Holy Spirit
1 Corinthians 3:16–17 ESV
16 Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you? 17 If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.
I think it is Steve Lawson said that holy lives for the environment in which the Lord is glad to dwell and through which He is most rightly worshipped.”
Augustine of Hippo says “Dost thou wish to be a place for the Lord? Be thou poor in spirit, and contrite, and trembling at the word of God, and thou wilt thyself be made what thou seekest."
2. Witness-
As the men of God one role we are to have in the world is to be a witness for God.
We have to influence others, telling them plainly about our Lord.
Acts 1:8 ESV
8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
You have heard me say this before my friends, but we are to be like a witness on trial, called to tell what we know about the one who saved us, changed us and made us new.
Christian men are called to influence the world around us.
3. Manhood
Biblical manhood is one of the leading needs in the church and the world. God has made us men, to be strong leaders in our homes, our churches and our other places that we frequent.
1 Corinthians 16:13–14 ESV
13 Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. 14 Let all that you do be done in love.
The phrase here be watchful is really to be on guard. We are to be on the alert, watching..
What are we watching for… A. the presence and work of the enemy. B. and corrosive influences...
The devil never stops, I Peter 5:8
1 Peter 5:8 ESV
8 Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
He is looking to take you down, because he wants to ruin you, your homes, your testimony.
Corrosive influences are those things that steal your time away and keep you from praying, reading, teaching, leading your life and the lives that God has placed under your lives.
Paul reminded those around him to emulate his teaching to those around them.
2 Timothy 2:2 ESV
2 and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also.
So we have the word of God and we are to take the word we have learned and walk in and we are to share it and teach it to others.
4. Improving Each Other
we are gathering because we recognize that we have a wonderful effect on each others life. We strengthen each other. We bless each other..
Proverbs 27:17 ESV
17 Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.
We cannot shy away from interaction with our peers since it is an education in itself.
Sharpening can occur in any area in which people are engaging one another
It can be Business, Intellectual, Spiritual or Physical.
I hope that my life is an encouragement to others. I am not perfect not do I have all of life together, but I hope what I know about Jesus I can invest that into others.
Our influencing of each other can happen a lot of ways but the best is face to face.
it is like running a kitchen knife over a kitchen steel, it can help to straighten the blade as you run it over the steel..
So our lives have an impact upon each other.
And it doesn’t matter if we are old or young, our lives, our past experiences can help bless and care for one another.
