Part 1: Righteousness (of God) Explored

Deuteronomy 32:4 ““The Rock! His work is perfect, For all His ways are just; A God of faithfulness and without injustice, Righteous and upright is He.”
Psalm 7:9 “O let the evil of the wicked come to an end, but establish the righteous; For the righteous God tests the hearts and minds.”
Psalm 45:7 “You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You With the oil of joy above Your companions.”
Isaiah 5:16 “But Yahweh of hosts will be lofty in judgment, And the holy God will show Himself holy in righteousness.”
Romans 1:17 “For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “But the righteous will live by faith.””

The Righteousness of Man

Deuteronomy 9:4–5 ““Do not say in your heart when Yahweh your God has driven them out before you, saying, ‘Because of my righteousness Yahweh has brought me in to possess this land,’ but it is because of the wickedness of these nations that Yahweh is dispossessing them before you. “It is not for your righteousness or for the uprightness of your heart that you are going to possess their land, but it is because of the wickedness of these nations that Yahweh your God is dispossessing them before you, in order to confirm the oath which Yahweh swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.”
2 Timothy 3:16 “All Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness,”
The entire Torah is given because men need instruction in righteousness.
“Right”—Conforming to the moral law of God, the source of righteousness and uncreated righteousness. It can be said that “righteousness” is perfect conformity unto the moral law of God—reflected in Torah (mostly, but not completely).
Genesis 6:5 “Then Yahweh saw that the evil of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.”

Attaining Righteousness

Romans 10:5–6 “For Moses writes about the righteousness which is of law: “The man who does these things shall live by them.” But the righteousness of faith speaks in this way: “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will go up into heaven?’ (that is, to bring Christ down),”
The breastplate of righteousness: Ephesians.
The reality of what righteousness is: the covering up of one’s flaws in order to be made presentable in the eyes of another.
In our quest for righteousness, we are attempting to fulfill two things: Specs and Eyes.
Specs: What standard is it that we try to live up to? Is it the standard of our parents? Is it to look presentable in the eyes
