INTRODUCTION
INTRODUCTION
In a society that diminishes Motherhood and womanhood, today I would like to Honor Mothers through an exegetical look at God’s view of Motherhood.
In particular God’s high view and value of womanhood -
And, the Grace of God in the motherhood of Mary, the mother of Jesus.
OUR SOCIETY DEMEANS MOTHERHOOD.
OUR SOCIETY DEMEANS MOTHERHOOD.
Motherhood is made out to be a sacrifice, a woman makes by sacrificing a career for children.
A woman who chooses motherhood over a career is often seen as ignorant or backwards in our so-called progressive society.
We live in a society where we are told there is no difference between a man or a woman.
As if that is some way to elevate woman to equality with men.
Yet Scripture is clear, women in the eyes of our creator have always been equal - they have also always been special.
We have removed the special vocation of women to the point that our society now struggles to define what a woman is.
THERE IS NO REPLACING THE VALUE OR THE UNIQUE QUALITIES AND GIFTS OF WOMANHOOD WITH MEN.
AND NO MAN CAN BE A MOTHER. JUST AS NO WOMAN CAN BE A FATHER.
WOMEN AND MOTHERS, DO NOT LET OUR SOCIETY ROB YOU OF YOUR BEAUTIFULLY MADE PERSONHOOD
AND YOUR UNIQUE QUALITIES.

As God created both man and woman in His image, so the grace of motherly characteristics are rooted in the divine being of God!
As God created both man and woman in His image, so the grace of motherly characteristics are rooted in the divine being of God!
God created humankind in his own image,
in the image of God he created them,
male and female he created them.
For thus says the Lord, “Behold, I extend peace to her like a river,
And the glory of the nations like an overflowing stream;
And you will be nursed, you will be carried on the hip and fondled on the knees.
“As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you;
And you will be comforted in Jerusalem.”
“Can a woman forget her nursing child
And have no compassion on the son of her womb?
Even these may forget, but I will not forget you.
THE GRACE OF GODLY MOTHERLY CHARACTERISTICS ARE FIRMLY ROOTED IN THE PERSONHOOD OF OUR CREATOR!

TODAY, I WANT TO SHARE WITH YOU THREE GRACES IN THE MOTHERHOOD OF MARY.
TODAY, I WANT TO SHARE WITH YOU THREE GRACES IN THE MOTHERHOOD OF MARY.
THE FIRST GRACE OF GOD TO ALL MOTHERS IS VOCATION.
THE FIRST GRACE OF GOD TO ALL MOTHERS IS VOCATION.
Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city in Galilee called Nazareth,
to a virgin engaged to a man whose name was Joseph, of the descendants of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary.
And coming in, he said to her, “Greetings, favored one! The Lord is with you.”
But she was very perplexed at this statement, and kept pondering what kind of salutation this was.
The angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; for you have found favor with God.
“And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus.
“He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David;
and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and His kingdom will have no end.”
And Mary said, “Behold, the bondslave of the Lord; may it be done to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.
Mary is entrusted with the Lord - Yeshua.
She is entrusted in caring and training up the Saviour of the world.
She was entrusted in an undying love that would form the saviour of the world.
This was not a job, it was a calling, a ministry, a VOCATION from the Lord Himself.
BUT PASTOR MY CHILDREN ARE NOT JESUS!
BUT PASTOR MY CHILDREN ARE NOT JESUS!
I thank God, whom I serve with a clear conscience the way my forefathers did, as I constantly remember you in my prayers night and day,
longing to see you, even as I recall your tears, so that I may be filled with joy.
For I am mindful of the sincere faith within you, which first dwelt in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am sure that it is in you as well.
Paul trusted the Faith that was in Timmothy because he new the faith in his grandmother and mother.
Motherhood is a vocation for every mother.
God has entrusted to you an image barer of Himself.
He has entrusted to you the vocation of raising them / loving them / training them / discipling them /
This is the most important ministry and vocation!
You are determining what the next society will look like.
Revival rests in your womb, your arms, under your motherhood vocation.

GOD GRACES MOTHERHOOD WITH WORLD SHAKING GRIT AND COURAGE.
GOD GRACES MOTHERHOOD WITH WORLD SHAKING GRIT AND COURAGE.
Now in those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus, that a census be taken of all the inhabited earth.
This was the first census taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria.
And everyone was on his way to register for the census, each to his own city.
Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David,
in order to register along with Mary, who was engaged to him, and was with child.
While they were there, the days were completed for her to give birth.
And she gave birth to her firstborn son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
Motherhood is not easy!
Mary, traveling by donkey during her last month of pregnancy / no room for them / delivered the baby in imperfect conditions / resourceful / Not to mention - giving birth!
NO YOU LIKELY WILL NOT REPEAT THE TASK OF MARY BUT SOME MOTHERS HAVE HAD TO GO THROUGH A LOT.
Motherhood is hard
It takes grit and courage
NONE OF OUR THREE WERE PLANNED!
NONE OF OUR THREE WERE PLANNED!
Aaron came at a very difficult time - financial and relationally.
I watched Callie become a person I had never seen / her courage to love deeply / her sacrifices of time /sleep / physical and mental weariness.
God gave her that grace! The grace of grit and courage to see the vocation through even in hard times.
MAYBE GOD HAS GIVEN YOU A SPECIAL NEEDS CHILD.
Understand God has entrusted you with a gift.
God has also and will also entrust you with the courage and grit to accomplish your vocation.
COURAGE TO LET YOUR CHILDREN (ESPECIALLY BOYS) TO LEARN TO TAKE ON CHALLENGES AND FEARS.
COURAGE TO LET YOUR CHILDREN (ESPECIALLY BOYS) TO LEARN TO TAKE ON CHALLENGES AND FEARS.
Now His parents went to Jerusalem every year at the Feast of the Passover.
And when He became twelve, they went up there according to the custom of the Feast;
and as they were returning, after spending the full number of days, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem. But His parents were unaware of it,
but supposed Him to be in the caravan, and went a day’s journey; and they began looking for Him among their relatives and acquaintances.
When they did not find Him, they returned to Jerusalem looking for Him.
Then, after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions.
My mom left me at a Wal-Mart not really the same.
Every mother comes to a point where they have to choose how to handle young boys.
My mom - go out there and fight your fight and do not come back in until you have won.
God gave Mary the Grace of Courage and Faith, to let Jesus be a free range child.
Her courage to let Jesus mature as a man helped Jesus become the saviour we need!

FINALLY, GOD GAVE MARY THE GRACE OF UNCONDITIONAL LOVE.
FINALLY, GOD GAVE MARY THE GRACE OF UNCONDITIONAL LOVE.
Mary did not always understand they way of Jesus but her love for him never failed.
MAYBE THE GREATEST ACT OF LOVE WAS HER STANDING BY JESUS IN THE MIDST OF HIS SUFFERING.
MAYBE THE GREATEST ACT OF LOVE WAS HER STANDING BY JESUS IN THE MIDST OF HIS SUFFERING.
When Jesus then saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing nearby, He said to His mother, “Woman, behold, your son!”
Then He said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother!” From that hour the disciple took her into his own household.
The Grace of God allowed Mary to be the Mother Jesus needed to the bitter end!
MOTHERHOOD IS A VOCATION OF UNSELFISH LOVE.
MOTHERHOOD IS A VOCATION OF UNSELFISH LOVE.
The love needed to raise children is the kind of love that can only God can grace us with.
This is the kind of love we describe as momma bear love - Don’t mess with a momma’s babies! Not unless your want to be mauled by a wild animal.
IT IS THE GRACE OF LOVE THAT EMPOWERS THE VOCATION OF MOTHERHOOD.
NEW MOMMA - I NEVER EXPEREINCED THIS KIND OF LOVE.
A LOVE THAT CAN AND WILL MOVE MOUNTAINS
A LOVE THAT SEEKS THE BEST BUT NOT ALWAYS THE EASIEST
A LOVE THAT BUILDS THE FUTURE OF THE CHILD
A LOVE THAT SACRIFICES BEST FRIEND STATUS FOR THE SAKE OF THE CHILDS PRESENT AND FUTURE.

CONCLUSION

HAVE HUSBANDS AND OTHERS TO COME STAND BEHIND THEM.
PRAY A BLESSING OVER THEM.
