The Righteous Life || Matthew 5:17-26 || Pastor Jose Brevil

Amen who has been studying The Book of Matthew we get to chapter 5, which is about The Sermon on the Mount as you remember the beginning of chapter 5 is the The attitudes meaning the attitude that are to be in you focus is on our attitudes our heart. We're all our heart needs to be because the Bible says blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of God. God wants us to persuade your righteousness The Thirst for justice. God wants us to be me God wants us to live according to his way God with all the attitude that we have seen in Matthew 5 in chapter verse 1 to 12 about the Beatitudes. God wants all of them to be in us because God says I hate when this attitudes are in you that's when you are truly blessed. That's when that you are truly happy because it says it even says blessed are two Mourn for they shall be comforted. That's when we don't take send likely when we take things. Seriously. We move the over our sins. We returned to him God wants us to live in his kingdom. So we no longer live like the world, but we are called to live a kingdom life. So that's why God gives us the Beatitudes to tell us how to live under search Kingdom God's kingdom and last week. We were remind me again how to live in the Kingdom by being Salt and Light. That's how you live in the kingdom of God. You have to live by salt and has lied and remember as we talked about salt salt create thirst. That's how you live under his Rule now, he moves to the section here talking about righteousness soaked verse 1 in chapter 5 to 12 focuses on our character the character when it's the display. And the way we do it it by being salt and by being like in the world and now in the section where 17248 hear Jesus is going to talk about our righteousness the way that we live righteously in the world spin in the Beatitudes Jesus telling about how to be blessed. But now Jesus is going to be stepping on some toes you ready? And all right. Let's get to Matthew 5 starting in verse 17. So let's read the text. You know, they will do everything that looks religious, but that doesn't mean that they are righteous. There's a big difference between being religious and being righteous righteousness comes from a relationship with God not from religion. Not from being religious. It says you have heard that it was said to do some hold you shall know that mother but whoever murders will be liable to judgment to see people worried about consequences look at verse 22, but I say to you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment whatever insults his brother will be liable to the council and wherever says you fool will be liable to the Hellfire. What's the connection between anger and murder? It starts where?

in your heart You just pull out a gun and just shoot somebody. There was something brewing in your heart. You make me angry and I'm going to put that on you and kill somebody but how do we destroy people are we mothering people every day with our tots with our mouths the way that we destroyed him with gossip with we tell all sorts of bad things about them. And then Jesus says 8 mother and anger they are on the same level. So Jesus says you have heard that it was said of all you shall not murder. But Jesus is saying okay you talking about another but let me let you in on a secret anger and mother there are at the same level. If you have on the righteous anger and then looking at somebody who murdered someone you are one and the same. They might be greater consequences. He might spend more time in jail.

Jesus is saying hey. Murder and anger. They are all under the same manner, but I say to you everyone was angry with his brother will be liable to the judge whatever insults his brother will be liable to the council and wherever says you fool, you will be liable liable to the Hell Fire talking about hell, they're Jesus. So when we see abuse is taking place when we see wrong and taking place in the culture when we see people taking advantage of children sex trafficking in whatever form that it comes in. We need to get angry.

This is righteous anger. Just like Jesus was angry about the Pharisees when they were taking advantage of people in the temple when there were fleecing them and taking all their money. Making them pay for every single thing in the temple and placing them and getting all kinds of evil thing in the in the temple. Why did Jesus do Jesus flip some tables? Jesus Chase been out of the temple because Jesus says my house shall be a House of Prayer, but you have made it into a den of Thieves. Jesus model righteous anger for us. That's why I hear Ephesians. 4:26 says be angry. That means biblically you angry at the things that God is angry. I just got to break your heart for what breaks his but it says do not send so when you see those unrighteous things being done in the culture and people that you know and your family You angry but you addressed it biblically you pray something that you can do in your power. If you know a kid is being abused in one place. You can move them to a different place you do that. That's how you manifest your right you anger, but there's also a type of anger that is sinful because it says be angry and do not send that it says do not let the sun go down on your anger. That means you need to try to get rid of anger and how where can I buy? Because when the anger says in your heart and makes you bitter. And then it leads to bigger things murders one of them. Case so it says be angry do not send that. It's desire is contrary to you. But you must rule over it. You need to rule over your anger or your anger will take you to places where you don't want to go. You will say things and you will do things that you will only come to regret. Some of them may be for the rest of your life Amos. 111 says for duck says the Lord for three transgressions of Edom and 44.
