John 14:1-7

Review

Background and Context:

Jesus just rocked the Disciples world with news of:

1.      His impending death

2.      Betrayal by one of their own

3.      The future denial by their leader

But Jesus speaks words of comfort to his friends by telling them of their inheritance.

Thomas’ misunderstanding leads Jesus to make his 6th divine declaration, “I Am the Way, the Truth, and the Life”

V. 6—I am the Way the Truth and the Life

Ø  Follows same Egw Eimi pattern

Ø  These statements are laying out a progression! It is showing the proper progress of a life with Christ!

Ø  You begin on THE WAY by faith, you walk in THE TRUTH and at the end you receive THE LIFE everlasting!

Ø  This is COMPLETELY OPPOSITE of what the world offers!

Ø  The world offers no Truth. We live in a Burger King where you can have it your way and no one way is better than another.
