Does God Speak to You? • God had you in mind, too (Rom 4:23–24) But the words “it was counted to him” were not written for his sake alone, but for ours also. It will be counted to us who believe in him who raised from the dead Jesus our Lord, Romans 4:23–24 Does God Speak to You? • God had you in mind, too (Rom 4:23–24) • God wrote so you’d have hope (Rom 15:4) For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. Psalm 16:11 Why Should You Listen? The Bible reveals God. The Bible changes you. • The Bible makes you spiritually grow (1 Pt 2:2; At 20:32) Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation— 1 Peter 2:2 Why Should You Listen? The Bible reveals God. The Bible changes you. • The Bible makes you spiritually grow (1 Pt 2:2; At 20:32) • The Bible makes you spiritually mature (Heb 5:11–14) …by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the basic principles of the oracles of God. You need milk, not solid food, for everyone who lives on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, since he is a child… Hebrews 5:11–14 Why Should You Listen? The Bible reveals God. Prepare to read the Bible. • Admit your needs (Rom 8:26; Heb 4:16) • Ask for help (Ps 119:18, 36) Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law.… Incline my heart to your testimonies, and not to selfish gain!
