Jer 31:33. prophesied in heart
as Ez 11:19 ‘“remove the hearts of stone, and give them hearts of flesh”
2 Corinthians 3:3 “you show that you are a letter from Christ delivered by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.”
Sinai fire came and law written on stone
now hearts of apostles
fleshly living authority, not stony dead letter law
living body also breathed life by Holy Spirit.
since living body, not separated parts each living own life
like body decayed where each cell now rots and lives its own independent ‘flowering’
instead each cell lives under living head, not dead letter
Body
as a body has parts animated by one Spirit so Church
Scripture: various gifts by Spirit
Lumen Gentium: “ fit and ready building up of the Church”
each part has a special function moved by same Spirit
What are ours?
each part unique
finger should not say to lungs ‘be like finger’
leg should not say to arms ‘be like leg’
Tho all same life (our doctrine and sacraments [not have life w/in u])
each part has its own special function
what are ours?
Figuring it out
as Lumen Gentium says: ‘makes us fit and ready’ for our task
it likely has desire
ignore earthly appetites concerns desires, seek inner peace and find where holy desires are
there likely is you calling
Do you like teach, maybe focus on it
like help poor, maybe focus on it
seek family, maybe focus on it
maybe even some called to religious life or priesthood
Conclusion
Pentecost breathed spirit into Church, living body not dead letter for each to try and figure out
what are you being called to do united and connected to the Church?
seek peace and silence where God dwells and seek to fulfill your special vocation.
