Hebrews

Welcome to the journey through the book of Hebrews. Much of this study will involve looking back into the past in order to clearly state how much better the new way is.

Hebrews Intro (Option 1) (375 words)

One of the phrases our teaching team has used before is “clarity is kindness.“ words, when you’re clear on something and direct with your message, that’s one of the kindest things you can do to someone. Think about it, would you rather have a friend that would tell you the truth or a friend that would rather tell you what you wanted to hear? Proverbs does say that the ones of Friend are better than the kisses of an enemy. hebrews, however has some things that are pretty unclear. One unclear thing about the letter of Hebrews is it’s author many theologians have debated who the writer of Hebrews actually is. Someday it’s Paul. Other say it’s Luke. Others even argue that it’s Apollo. And why we could spend some time in the series debating the offer is, we want to dive into this meeting. Another unclear thing about the epistle to Hebrews is it audience debate is given about who this is written to say the believers in Jerusalem others say Rome, and if we get caught up, debating the author in the audience, like other debates that we have in our culture. What’s the greatest flavor of ice cream? Who is the greatest basketball player of all time parentheses this really is in debatable parentheses these debates can make things fun and interesting but like we mentioned at beginning of this clarity is kindness. Whoever the author is and who whomever the author was riding they are clear on one theme throughout this book, Jesus is better and this isn’t just barely edging out on the stat line or the subjective truth. No, the author of Hebrews allows Jesus to go with figures like Moses and belong in the sacrifices and the blood that he shared and with clear concise debate the message is simply this. Jesus is better we drink through the book of Hebrews prayer is that you would see the Jesus is better and that because of that you would clearly see that Jesus is better and that you see that he is worthy to be pursued or that you’re doing us for the study.

Hebrews Intro (Option 2)

Just about any Bible teacher or Bible study practices

Hebrews 1.

Jesus is better because He is God’s final Word.
Isn’t it interesting that Jesus is the Word that spoke everything into existence? Furthermore, the same Word that spoke nothingness into something is the same Word that became flesh and dwelt among us. The writer of Hebrews reminds us that God spoke clearly through prophets in the past, but the fulfilment of the

Hebrews 2

Imagine you and a friend are going to set sale from the East Coast of Hawaii in two separate sailboats you’re gonna race to see who can be the first one to California and in order to make sure it’s done the right way you start at the same spot in the same position on the exact same direction your friend has done this trip 1000 times and quite frankly he is “the standard “for nautical experiences. He said and you follow him right after will imagine that in your days at see you’re following is track but a wave not you just 3° south of the track that he’s going
No doubt you have heard the phrase, “he wrote the book.” This is a well known idiom used to describe someone as an expert or the authority in a specific field. For example, someone may say, “he wrote the book on preaching.” This would distinguish that person as an experienced and expert preacher. In other words, this is someone you could learn from, someone that sets a high standard, and someone that is better than the majority.
The writer of Hebrews understands that his audience is leaning toward returning to their old ways. These newly converted Christians have faced much persecution after deciding to follow Jesus, so they are probably questioning whether continuing in the faith would be worth it. To encourage this audience, the writer of Hebrews begins by comparing Jesus to the prophets and the angels. The prophets and the angels are prominent figures in how God communicated to the nation of Israel in the past. All of the words of Moses, Isaiah, and Jeremiah.
While their message and words are significant to the whole redemptive story, it’s as if the writer of Hebrews is saying, their message is all about Jesus. In other words, “He is the One that their message is about and He is the One that wrote the book.”
Chapter one compares Jesus to both the prophets and the angels. In both comparisons the message is clear: Jesus is better. The message that God spoke through the prophets was about Jesus. The message that God spoke through the angels was about Jesus. Jesus is the Word that created everything. Jesus is the Word that became flesh. Jesus is the final Word and fulfilling Word of God.
would be so much easier for As we jump into Hebrews 1, it is as if the writer of Hebrews is using the idiom of “He wrote the book” to teach how much better Jesus is.
