Introduction.
We in a series called on small steps- one small step to transform someone's live with the good news of Jesus.
There are 2 types of evangelism Jesus wants us to focus on and that is.
Come and see evangelism
Go and tell evangelism.
Most people meet Jesus in come and see evangelism or go and tell evangelism.
When Jesus looks at you or when He looks at people He has redemptive eyes as well as redemptive power.
What does that mean,
Jesus looks at who He made us be.
Jesus looks at who we can be.
Jesus looks at us and the lost and He sees our God given purpose.
Why He made us,
We are made on purpose for a purpose.
Every human being on earth is made by God for God and he gives us an option to choose to follow Him, IF We do we discover why we are placed on earth, this is important to know to help our lost friends in there journey with discovering who Jesus is and there own calling.
As we developour relationship with Jesus and walk with Him, he wants to redeem the lost through us.
THE WORD REDEMPTION MEANS.
1. the action of saving or being saved from sin, error, or evil.
2. the action of regaining or gaining possession of something in exchange for payment, or clearing a debt.
Romans 5:6–11 (NLT)
6 When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners.
7 Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good.
8But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.
9 And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation.
10 For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son.
11 So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God.
With this in mind, lets look at Jesus in action modeling His redemptive power and redemptive eyes for the lost with the intention to allow Him to carry on his ministry in and through us.
Please turn with me to Luke 19:10.
Luke 19:1–10 (NIV)
1Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through.
2A man was there by the name of Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector and was wealthy.
3He wanted to see who Jesus was, but because he was short he could not see over the crowd.
4So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way.
5When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.”
6So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly.
7All the people saw this and began to mutter, “He has gone to be the guest of a sinner.”
8But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.”
9Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham.
10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
SOME BACKGROUND CONTEXT TO THIS REDEMPTIVE ACT OF JESUS.
1 Jesus operated in a word of Knowledge to redeem Zacchaeus
In this case Jesus operates with the Holy Spirit CALLS ZACCHAEUS BY NAME .
Supernatural words of knowledge reveal information about a situation or person that is based.
Family if Jesus needed to operate in a supernatural word of knowledge to save lost souls, it would be wise for us to operate in a word of knowledge to reach out to people.
There are 9 gifts of the Holy Spirit which we see in 1 Cor 12:7-12.
3 We Know something supernatural
3 We Say something supernatural
3 We Do something supernatural.
2. DIVINE APPOINTMENT FOR REDEMPTION
Luke 19:2–5 (NIV)
2A man was there by the name of Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector and was wealthy.
3He wanted to see who Jesus was, but because he was short he could not see over the crowd.
4So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way.
5When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.”
Family we see Jesus and Zacchaeus coming together as a result Zacchaeus' life gets transformed by Jesus.
Jesus redeems Him and transforms Him to be a blessing in society.
Family we to need to put our faith out for divine appointments, so that we can see peoples lives transformed.
Personal testimony.
I would pray and say Lord would you help me to connect with the right people to gether them to you and sometimes God would tell me go to gym at a certain time , so i would go and i remember i went to gym and sat in the suane and there was a great guy i met him , we spoke and connected and i invited him to church i think about 3 months later he arrived and He is her today Alan.
Divine appointment , divine connections, for Divine salvation, Divine invitations
3 JESUS IS ABLE TO SAVE A PERSON COMPLETELY.
Luke 19:9–10 (NIV)
9Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham.
10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
Romans 1:16–17 (NIV)
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.
17 For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”
There is the redemptive eyes of Jesus and redemptive power of Jesus.
Jesus has the power to save us, and people completely.
There are 3 types of saving, i am saved, i am being saved i will be saved .
Jesus is the savior, know we looking at the intentional saving act that Jesus wants to do in and through us as a church , we all need to put our faith together for people to be radically saved in this church,
United faith around the saving power of Jesus.
Greek- sōzō
To save, that is, deliver or protect
Heal,
Preserve, save (self), do well, be (make) whole.
To save a suffering one (from perishing),
i.e. one suffering from disease, to make well, heal, restore to health
To preserve one who is in danger of destruction, to save or rescue
To save, keep safe and sound, to rescue from danger or destruction.
We need to change our perspective , or we can say it like this.
We need to emvraxe this truth, or we can say it likes this we need to believe this.
Jesus is able to save a person which means he is able to forgivre them, heal them transform them and bring them to a place of safety when the response to the gospel.
Paul said it this may i am not ashamed of the gospel because it is the power of gOD TO SALVATION.
We need to believe whole healthy that when some one gets saved, the greatest miracle takes place and we see the redmeing hands of Jesus at work.
4 SAVED TO BE BLESSING.
Luke 19:8–10 (NIV)
8But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.”
9Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham.
Zaccheaues was an outcast from the community people did not like him as he was a tax collector and he was an unjust tax collector taking extra taxes.
However when Jesus redeemed Him and saved Him, his blessing sources changed from taking from people to believing God for a blessing living a righteous life, his heart turned and he made right immediately.
We need this type of salvation church seeing people get saved and there hearts changing immediateLY to go make right.
Jesus saved Zacchaeus and Jesus declared the Abrham blessing over Him,Which is this…
Genesis 12:2–3 (NIV)
2“I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.
3I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”
When an individual gets saved, we need to believe with them and teach them to believe in the Abrham blessing that God wants to bless them to be a blessing.
Galatians 3:13–14 (NLT)
13But Christ has rescued us from the curse pronounced by the law. When he was hung on the cross, he took upon himself the curse for our wrongdoing. For it is written in the Scriptures, “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.”
14 Through Christ Jesus, God has blessed the Gentiles with the same blessing he promised to Abraham, so that we who are believers might receive the promised Holy Spirit through faith.
We need to corporately believe for this .
That we will be living in the Abraham blessing and every one that gets saved will be living in the Abraham promise.
Blessed to be a blessing.
In closing.
God is calling us to seek and and save the lost as well as to believe that the gospel has power to change lost people completely when they accept Jesus as their Lord.
