PARABLE OF THE SOWER

G.I.J.N. WELCOME TO EACH ONE TO THE SERVICE.

FOR DEVOTIONS WE WILL BE LOOKING AGAIN IN LUKE CHAPTER 8

THIS MORNING I WANT TO CHALLENGE US ON THE CONDITION OF OUR HEART - SOMETIMES WE MAY FEEL LIKE BECAUSE WE HERE - SITTING UNDER THE TEACHING OF THE WORD THAT WE AUTOMATICALLY ARE THE GOOD GROUND

BUT REMEMBER - THE TRUTH OF THIS PARABLE IS DIRECTED TO THOSE OF US WHO ARE HEARING THE WORD OF THE LORD SPOKEN TO THEM - SO WE ARE THE ONES WHOM JESUS IS TEACHING ABOUT HERE.

Luke 8:5–8

Luke 8:5–8 (KJV 1900)

V5- A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it.

Lu 8:12 Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.

V6- And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture.

Lu 8:13 They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.

And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it.

Lu 8:14 And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.

And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

Lu 8:15 But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

WE ARE ALL HERE - SITTING UNDER THE WORD - RECEIVING THE SAME SEED - BUT WHAT IS IT DOING IN OUR HEART - IS IT TAKING ROOT OR BEING PLUCKED OUT OF OUR HEART AS SOON AS WE LEAVE THESE DOORS -

OR AS SOON AS THE TRIALS OR TRIBULATION OR PERSECUTION COMES THEN WE ARE OFFENDED AND WE LOOSE THE JOY OF THE LORD.

OR POSSIBLY THE CLOSEST HEART CONDITION TO OUR REALITY AT THIS POINT IN TIME BASED ON WHAT WE HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING IS THE SOIL WITH THORNS AS IT SAYS IN MATTHEW 13: 22 is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.

ARE WE STILL FEELING EMPTY IN OUR CHRISTIAN WALK - OR FEELING UNFRUITFUL - MAY BE - BECAUSE WE ARE ALLOWING TOO MANY THORNS OR PLEASURES OF THE WORLD IN LIVES - CHOKING OUT THE FRUITFULNESS GOD WOULD HAVE US TO BE EXPERIENCING AS THOSE WHO ARE ATTACHED TO THE TRUE VINE JESUS CHRIST.

THIS MORNING LET US REMOVE THE ROCKS AND THORNS AND ALLOW THE MESSAGE OF THE LORD TO HAVE US DIG DEEP INTO THE ROCK OF OUR SALVATION SO THAT THE DEVIL CANNOT SWOOP DOWN AND PLUCK IT FROM US.

OR WHEN DIFFICULTIES COME CAUSES US TO FORGET THE TRUTHS AND PROMISES OF GOD THAT HE WILL BE WITH US TO THE END.

BUT AS WE ARE THAT GOOD SOIL AND OUR ROOTS ARE DEEP AND WE ARE UNWAVERING IN OUR FAITH AND TRUST IN GOD - SO THAT WHATEVER WE FACE - WE MAINTAIN OUR GROUND LIKE THE S.S. LESSON FOCUS: TO FAITHFULLY FOLLOW THE TEACHINGS OF OUR LORD, FINDING DELIVERANCE FROM FALSE TEACHINGS AND FALSE TEACHERS.

AND AS WE READ IN

Hebrews 10:23 “Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)”
