vs. 10
Be strong- Clothe one’s self with strength
power- kratos exerted strength or power
might- ischuos inherent power within

panoplia- use every weapon God has given you to it’s fulness
methodeia- cunning arts, deceit, craft, and trickery.
Stand- stand your ground, don’t retreat.
We Stand living everything he said in Chapters 4-6a
vs. 12

“a contest between two in which each endeavors to throw the other, and which is decided when the victor is able to press and hold down his prostrate antagonist, namely, hold him down with his hand upon his neck.”

Wrestling is a close quarters combat
Greeks gouged out the eyes of the loser. Blinded for life.

Then Jesus made a public spectacle of all the powers and principalities of darkness, stripping away from them every weapon and all their spiritual authority and power to accuse us. And by the power of the cross, Jesus led them around as prisoners in a procession of triumph. He was not their prisoner; they were his!

sandals- The Roman soldier wore sandals which were bound by throngs over the instep and around the ankle, and the soles were thickly studded with nails. This would give him a firm footing in case of attack.
Gospel- Good news/ term used of messenger bringing news of victory in battle.
Shield- 4 by 2.5 feet (heavy infantry shield) smaller shield 36 inches
Helmet- wear the helmet of salvation means to live every day focused on eternity and the promised future we have.
Sword- Dual purpose/ attack and protect
