True prayer is a way of life, not just for use in cases of emergency. Make it a habit, and when the need arises you will be in practice.
You will call to me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you search for me with all your heart.
Prayer is climbing up into the heart of God
What’s stopping us from prayer?
What’s stopping us from prayer?
Some reasons that keep us from praying include:
unconfessed sin
lack of faith
anger at God or others
selfishness or feeling that you can do everything yourself
“Whenever you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites, because they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by people. Truly I tell you, they have their reward. But when you pray, go into your private room, shut your door, and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. When you pray, don’t babble like the Gentiles, since they imagine they’ll be heard for their many words. Don’t be like them, because your Father knows the things you need before you ask him.

His model prayer, often called the Lord’s Prayer, bears a resemblance to certain lines from the Jewish prayers known as the Kaddish and Amidah:
May his great name be exalted and sanctified in the world that he created as he willed. May he give reign to his kingship in your lifetimes and in your days, and in the lifetimes of the entire family of Israel, swiftly and soon.
(Kaddish, opening lines)
We shall sanctify your name in this world, just as they sanctify it in heaven above. (Amidah, third benediction)
“Therefore, you should pray like this:
Our Father in heaven,
your name be honored as holy.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And do not bring us into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.
Pray the Lord’s prayer… everyday!
It is the basic dance moves. You can make it whatever you need it to be!
