What Membership Is Not?

Membership at Restoration Church is not salvation. Salvation comes through faith in Christ alone through which you become part of the Body of Christ. Your responsibility toward the Body of Christ is not limited the members of Restoration Church, but rather toward all those who trust Jesus for salvation.

Why Membership?

In his letter to the Corinthians, Paul gives us a picture of how the body of Christ, His Church[1] is to function. He says this in I Corinthians 12:12-14, “For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ…For the body does not consist of one member but of many.” The body of Christ is made up of individuals so intimately related to one another, that they form one body. Restoration Church strives for this level of community. We believe intentional commitment to our mission and vision is vital toward that end.
Restoration Church exists to encourage one another in our faith in Christ.[2] Joining Restoration Church is a commitment to learn, live, celebrate, serve and pray together. It is a commitment to submit to one another as we all submit to the authority of Scripture and the leading of the Holy Spirit in the life of our church.
Restoration Church exists at great sacrifice of people near and far. As such, joining Restoration Church is a calling to sacrifice greatly in order to take up the cause of Christ with us. It is a calling to carry out the Great Commission[3] through this local expression of the Body of Christ.

What is Membership?

Membership at Restoration Church is a commitment to our mission, vision and statement of faith. We do not believe covenant membership an explicit scriptural mandate, however it is well attested in Scripture that believers were organized and practically working together for the advance of the Kingdom of God. We believe membership is a practical means through which we can steward the resources and calling God has given us for the expansion of His Kingdom in downtown Clearwater and beyond.
As a church in submission to Lord Jesus, we are charged to...
Proclaiming and Guarding the Gospel (Doctrine)
Discipleship (Stirring each other up to love and good deeds)
Discipline (Teaching to Obedience)
Stewarding Resources for supporting these efforts
Currently our resources primarily go to facilitating groups and Sunday services
Membership is about agreeing to submit unto one another as we pursue these things and to give a framework for decision making. Membership is a calling to submit to leadership in this body which is primarily Luke and myself as elders.
Hebrews 13:17 ESV
17 Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you.
We believe there are a few clear expectations that flow out of a commitment to membership:
Prayerful Giving
Commitment to community group
Serving on Sundays
