The Righteous Life: Purity, Marriage & Commitment | Matthew 5:27-37 | Pastor Jose Brevil

All right, Matthew Matthew Chapter 5 the righteous life. So blessed week. We started looking at the righteous Life as we look in the Book of Matthew as we are being taught about what the righteous life look like, which is the kingdom of God and last week we looked at how righteousness will look like in the way that we handle anger often. Our anger is not always right to our anger can turn out to be very sinful and we learned last week how to forgive and also God hard for us is to be reconciled with one another we should not keep the anger keep the bitterness up but the goal that God has for us. Is to be reconciled to one another this morning, we're going to continue in that same pattern where God calls us to be Salt and Light in our community and God teaches us that heaven and earth will pass away but not on iO Donato. In his word will pass away but his word will remain the same today and forever will remain the same. So God's word never changes culture does not dictate. What is right, but God the case. What is right soap this morning? We're going to look at some very controversial Topic in our culture that they are not a God is the Creator God knows exactly what we need and hear God is going to talk to you about what the righteous life look like in Purity and Mary. And in commitment for this morning as we look we're going to read the text from verse 27 to 37. And as we walk fluid, we're going to read and then regard and walk through the tax and see what God has two teachers about purity marriage and commitment verse 27 in chapter 5. It says you have heard that is was said You shall not commit adultery, but I say to you that everyone will look at a woman with lust a full internet has already committed adultery with her in his heart. And Jesus is taking us from the physical heart physical act and then comparing it to the heart issue. So Jesus is saying when you commit a when you lust after somebody else it is equivalent to doing the physical a but now I know what their greater consequences but that's what Jesus is trying to tell us remember the Pharisees. They were very hypocritical. It was kind of like a checklist for them. I look at the Ten Commandments and all the other Lords that they had to fall off when they see adults. You can say I've never done that and now Jesus is just about to pretty much get right on their grilled get right on their face and telling them. Okay, you think you have a check for adultery? Check this out. I'll let me complete that low for you anytime that you have lusted after a woman. Guess what you have committed adultery because it's not just about the physical act but it's about your heart. If your heart thought about it and you thought about it. You can come templating. It's wanting to do with your lusting after Jesus said, hey, it's as if that you had committed adultery. Jesus says, hey you have already committed adultery such a things were going to look at this morning the Christian Life when it is lived out models true love and Purity the Christian Life when it is lived out models shoe. Love and Purity here in the culture. All good. We see being display on TV is what we call lust Love love when you look at a movie and then they see like two people they have some spark going on in them. And then next thing you see you'll see them in the bedroom and then acting out all their factions. That is not the love love doesn't come to take love comes to Give Love Waits. And that's why today we live in a culture where kids doesn't understand what it means to be committed the moment. They get out of the house. They find somebody to live with Because that's what they see on TV. And then we are not teaching them in the home. You know what it means like to be committed. What's the point of getting married when 50% of marriages end up in divorce? What's the point? So let's just go ahead and move in together and cohabitation.

Look at our lusts together, but here the Bible calls us to love we need to muddle love Matt lust and what are we seeing the culture would we see in the movie? They call it love it played that that that's wonderful movie and they go ahead and it just get act out their passion living together. Everybody's just using each other but never have any commitment. This is not love. This is lust. Going to Lake. We just meeting each other's needs but that's not what God calls. See God is the one who created sex and God has the right to regulate sex as well. So that's why God not only created sex. But God also says sex is signified. It needs only to happen in marriage because if God created can God create a rule around it.

God is the one will give us sex and sex is not bad sex is a good thing. It's a beautiful thing to be enjoyed in the confines of a marital relationship because sex is sacred God created and then God give it to us as a gif. And that's why here it says that you shall not commit adultery not to take away fun from us. But you tell us where we can enjoy the gift that he has given to us just like our car there is a manual to tell us how to use it so that we can use it as best as it was created to be in really enjoyed see Christian off and have a wrong view of sex. And God is not in Ty sexy only puts a fence around it for our benefits and a lot of parents. We have a hard time talking to our kids about sex has been so perverted into the world and those of you with little kids don't think I'm telling them too many things they let they've already heard quite a lot of it already. They've heard it better to hear it from me than to hear it from their friends at school because they're not going to hear the right thing. Sex is sacred. It is a good thing the culture perverts. It's like it is a bad thing. It is not it is to be enjoyed between the husband and a wife. It's a gift from God. God only puts a fence around it for our benefits. God is saying no now until you get married so you can say yes later when God put a fence around something it is for our protection and for our benefit in 1st Thessalonians, 4:3 25. It says for this is the will of God your sanctification that you abstain from sexual immorality that each one of you know how to control his own body in Holiness. And and here's the thing with the culture is just just sex is so great. You know, it's so easy and so are available in the culture what happens when you go in and just meet somebody and then all of a sudden next to get to the bedroom with no commitment. Why would they do that? Why would they not do that with somebody else?

Who was the reason to get up with you? Why Try can you trust him and that's why you see in the relationship today. They can there be any trust because we know how easy we got it together. Then you'll do the same thing. If somebody else now, you see why God put that fence around it so that because True Love Will Wait And God says you need to learn self-control. So if the person who claimed that they love you. Cannot exercise self-control and weight after marriage then probably when you have a problem when things will not working out when you're having difficulty in your marriage, then they not going to wait either because there were no self-control then later on. They're going to have to get it somewhere else. Says nut in the passion of lust like the Gentiles would do not know God. So when God says no it's for our benefit and for our protection that's where you see a lot of people they are in marital relationship, but now they have to bug each other's phones because they have no choice with each other because they knew how they got together because they got together the wrong way. So there's always in the back of my mind or you going to do the same thing that we did with somebody else enough. I got to plug your phone I got cuz I can't trust you. I got to find out where you are at. No. God calls us to freedom and God calls us to peace when God brings that person that is supposed to be ours God wants us to trust them completely and so that we don't have to worry about it because I know that God will give us the strength to exercise self-control at all time. See sex is about giving not about selfish desires. Somebody's pressuring you to do it. I'm going to leave you.

They just want what you can give them. See, it's not about selfish desires. Okay, that's supposed to be the answer by see you later. It is about giving God gives us a gift. It's a gift to be given between husband and wife in 1st Corinthians 7:2 in three ways. It's good because of the temptation to sexual immorality each man should have his own wife and each woman should have her own husband. It's a gift that God has given to us anniversary. Does the husband should give to his wife are conjugal right and likewise the wife to her husband. See what's a gift that God has given between husband and wife in our culture. We live in a very consumer ristic time where everybody's all about what I can get for myself. What is it that I can get? But without any commitment, but as we see when God calls us to a marriage relationship giving our bodies to one another said about what we can get but it's about commitment. It's a covenant look at Malakai 2 verse 14 to 15 with me says but you say why does he not because the Lord was witness between you and the wife of your youth to Boom you have been faithful. She is the one you have been faithless there. She is your companion and your wife by what? Covenant and tell him you don't even know what the word covenant means. Covenant cannot be broken, That's a net contract.

The contracts can be broken Covenant cannot be broken. And that's what he says that when two people come together. He when he saying if your right eye causes you to sin cut take it out see it starts in the heart and the Heart leads to the physical action. And if you keep looking looking up, it's going to lead to something and God today a cut it up cut it off cut it out. I know that sex is so great. You were this in the culture and then do my finger or it's not a big deal because I think this is a big deal. Is it that your body would go into hell? Can't believe that it says that but that's what exactly what it says. So God is saying deal immediately and decisively with sin. God says don't toy with sin you need to deal with it immediately and decisively get rid of sin in your life Colossians. 3:5 says put to death there for what is Earthly in sexual immorality and Purity passion evil desire and covetousness, which is idolatry. Got to put them to death Jobe 31 verse one. That's the radical imputation example. They said I have made a covenant with my high. How then could I gained an aversion to support a making a covenant with his eyes? I will never look at a woman lustfully see that's the kind of radical thinking that we need to have Zach. It starts in your heart could do that you start enjoying it in your mind and and and it and it takes you like the places should not take you and then before you know it day you go. You been thinking about that. You've been planning at you been enjoying it in your mind. And it says each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by what his own desires. Then desire when it is conceived gives birth to send and sin when it is fully grown brains full of what? Sin is no joking matter that When God says a get rid of sexual immorality and adultery from your life. God is saying I'm trying to preserve you. I'm trying to save you see 1st Corinthians 6:9 and 10 says do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God. Remember the reference that you don't going to hell do not be this evening either the sexually immoral. No, I doubt there's no adults were snowmen. We'll practice some more sexuality. No thieves. No degree Dino the drunkards nor revilers. No stragglers will inherit the kingdom of God. This is a serious sin. And isn't that just the only one and you see all the lives here? And God says I hate when you practice those things Heaven is not for you.

Let's Get It On

the Bible says love is patient and love is kind love does it make threats?

If not, I will leave love does not envy or boast. It is not arrogant. It is not rude.

Not to make our life miserable, but instead to be a blessing because when you become married, you become one flesh. You become one does not a thing that you will not do for that person and they let us thing that that person would not do for you and that's why God says they I give you that gift to enjoy with. Does that make sense? And then it says that whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery and God is saying that now you are with that divorce woman who didn't have a Biblical divorce. It was an illegitimate divorce. So really they just got guidance and gave us is equivalent to a Dollar Tree. But now he's saying like a divorce this is full for adultery. That's where Jesus is trying to teach here. And I know this is totally foreign today now in our culture because 50% of marriages end up in divorce even for those who go to church

Divorce was permitted. Remember that key word that was permitted but not commendeth fed with me divorce was permitted but not committed or encourage. Marriage is always God's ideal. Marriage is always God's ideal gotta God wants us to get married and be married together for life. That is God's idea. Too hard Hearts, then we can that make it work. When are the heart one trying to make it work? We all have said if it is possible to be reconciled person has not moved on forces that their God says they try to reconcile if you cannot but God says

Now on you know, my ideal you do it the way that I have called you to be one woman one man together for life so that we can show the culture what God is because marriage is a picture of God Union you have God the Father God the son and God the Holy Spirit the perfect marriage you should never be broken. That's the same thing. That's we trying to portray in the culture to show that commitment when we live in a culture that had that has absolutely no commitment. But God is doing a show the culture and be attractive self message in a nutshell is that God calls us to live a life of Purity and show the world what Biblical marriage and commitment at to be the key is not the living guilt and shame and yesterday, but it is a call to repair it. And send no more because by the power of the holy spirit inside of us we can overcome sin in our life. Whatever sin it is no matter how it comes and God is always his arms are always right open. Hey, come to me. I want to rescue you. I want to transform you. I want to restore you and I want to use you for my glory. That's what God specialize in doing. And when we feel like it is hard for us to do. God says take every thought captive to obey Christ.
