Review

Last week we saw that the unborn child is a separate person from the mother, so it is not her body and her choice. We also saw that the child is not just a clump of cells. They are a human being from the moment of fertilization, and therefore deserve equal rights and protections. We also considered cases of rape and incest. We examined the Biblical teaching that children shouldn’t be put to death for the sins of their fathers and whoever justifies the wicked and condemns the righteous are both alike an abomination to the Lord. (Deuteronomy 24:16, Ezekiel 18:20, Proverbs 17:15)

Quality of Life, Poverty, and Birth Defects

Scripture clearly teaches that each person is created in God’s image from the womb. That includes the poor and disabled. (Genesis 1:27, Psalm 139:13-14)
Exodus 20:13 ““You shall not murder.”
Proverbs 14:12 “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.”
Proverbs 29:7 “A righteous man knows the rights of the poor; a wicked man does not understand such knowledge.”
Psalm 82:3–4 “Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute. Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.””

What About the Life of the Mother?

ectopic pregnancy- a pregnancy in which the fetus develops outside the uterus, typically in a fallopian tube.
“In a high-risk pregnancy (ectopic or otherwise) physicians are treating two patients: the mother and the baby. Therefore, they should seek to preserve both patients’ lives to the best of their ability. If complications were to arise and only one life can be saved, then that life is saved. This is altogether different than the intentional murder of a human being.” — endabortionnow.com
Unlike abortion, the goal in an ectopic pregnancy is to save the life of the baby. And in some rare cases, the life of the child can be saved.

You Can’t Legislate Morality

All laws legislate morality at some level.
See Romans 13:1-5… We must obey God rather than men. (Acts 5:29)

Only Women Can Talk About Abortion/Don’t Like Abortion? Don’t Have One

Everything we have seen in Scripture disproves these statements.
Proverbs 31:9 “Open your mouth, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy.”
Matthew 28:18–20 “And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.””
Acts 20:26–27 “Therefore I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all, for I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole counsel of God.”
Proverbs 31:8 “Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are destitute.”

Final Thoughts

We cannot be silent. We must uphold the sanctity of all human life, including the lives of the unborn.
We must promote the blessing of adoption.
Ephesians 5:1 “Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children.”
Romans 8:15 “For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!””
Through the power of the Gospel, we can be forgiven, saved, cleansed, and made new.
Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.”
