MOVING BEYOND THE FAMILIAR TO THE FAITH-FILLED
Thursday
Pastor Jonathon Carter
Intro:
Moving beyond the familiar to the faith-filled requires a shift in mindset from relying solely on what we know too trusting in something greater, even when it’s not immediately clear or certain.
This outline illustrates Abraham’s journey of moving beyond the familiar to the faith-filled, as he responded to God’s call, trusted in His promises, and demonstrated unwavering faith throughout his life.
As a leader or member, trusting God completely for progress involves:
1. Following God’s Guidance: {Genesis 12:}
Like Abraham, I rely on God’s direction rather than my own understanding when making decisions, believing that His plan is always best.
2. Embracing Challenges: {Genesis 15}
Trusting God means facing challenges with faith, knowing that He will provide strength and wisdom to overcome obstacles along the way.
3. Waiting on God’s Timing: {Genesis 22}
Just as Abraham waited patiently for the fulfillment of God’s promises, I trust in God’s timing for progress, even when it requires waiting longer than expected.
4. Surrendering Control: {Genesis 22:15-18
Rather than trying to control every outcome, I relinquish control to God, trusting Him to work out the details and lead me toward success according to His will.
5. Maintaining Faith Amid Uncertainty: {Romans 4:18-22}
When uncertainty arises, I anchor my faith in God’s faithfulness, believing that He is always present and working behind the scenes for my ultimate good and progress.
