Time to seek God
Basic rules…
Read a verse, model prayer, invite students to imitate in their own words…
Close with 10-15 minutes of free flowing prayer?

A) Begin with general thanksgivings and praises…
B) Turn to the below:
Prayers of examination, confession, renewal
Read vv.1-2 Round of Examination
Psalm 139: 23-24
Read these verses, then model and lead round of simple petitions:
“Search me!” “Know my heart, KNOW my thoughts” “Try me!” “See if there be any grievous (evil) way in me”
Round of Confession
Read Psalm 51:1-2
Lead in confession using David’s words:
Someone says: “Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love;
A) according to your abundant mercy blot out my [specific transgression].”
B) “Wash me thoroughly from my [X iniquity], and cleanse me from my sin!”
Round of Renewal
Read vv.10, 12, 15
“Create in [me/us] clean hearts, O God, and renew right spirits within [me/us]”
“Restore to [us] the JOY of your salvation and uphold [us] with a willing spirit”
“O Lord, OPEN my lips, and my mouth will declare your praise.”

Read Psalm 103:1-5
Someone says: “Bless the LORD O my soul, and all that is within me” [all respond, “Bless His holy name!”
Then one sentence:
Lord, I praise you for forgiving my X.
I praise you for healing Y.
I praise you for redeeming my life out of Z circumstance.
I praise you for crowning me with steadfast love and mercy…. for satisfying me…
Round of Praise for God’s Character
You read v.6-13
“Bless the LORD O my soul, and all that is within me’ [Response: Bless His holy name!]
I praise you for your [X attribute]
righteousness, justice, mercy, grace, love, patience, not dealing with according to our iniquity, His great lovingkindness, His compassion…
Round of Lament
Read Psalm 13:1-2
Someone says: “How long, O Lord? How long will you X?” [General, then personal]
Round of Petition and Assurance
Read vv.3-4
Someone says: “Consider and ANSWER me, O Lord my God”
Then adds request: i.e. “Light up my eyes!” “Enlighten me!” “Defend me!” “Teach me” “Use me!” “Save X”
When all have shared, close with assurance:
v.5-6
“But I have trusted… my heart SHALL rejoice…I WILL sing to the LORD.”
