SOZO – SALVATION, DELIVERANCE AND HEALING
Key Bible Verses:
Romans 10:8-10 (NKJV) 8  But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart" (that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9  that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10  For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Hosea 6:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.
Because you have rejected knowledge,
I also will reject you from being priest for Me;
Because
I also will forget your children.
And when He had called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease. Matthew 10:1 (NKJV)
Let us examines scriptural foundation of salvation or Sozo so that we can recognize the full extent of the gospel and of our commission. If we are going to be released into the ministry of praying for the sick, we must have a revelation of the heart of God. We need to know that God’s desire is to heal every sick person. The Bible tells us that Jesus was moved with Compassion and healed the sick. He healed every sickness and every disease that people were suffering with.
1. Jesus Healed Everyone (Matthew 4:24; Luke 6 17-19)
2. Moved with Compassion (Matthew 14:14)
3. The Disciples Commission (Matthew 10:1,7,12)
4. The same works as Jesus (John 14:12)
5. Divine Health is a Process (John 5:1-9; Luke 17:12-14)
6. Warring Against Sickness (Matthew 11:12: Matthew 9:20-21)
7. SOZO: Complete Salvation A. Sozo Defined - The term “sozo” is a Greek word used hundreds of times in the New Testament which means salvation, healing, and deliverance.
· Salvation - “That ifyou confess with your mouthJesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead you shall be saved (sozo).” --Romans 10:9; Matthew 1:21; Acts 2:47
· Healing - “But Jesus turning and seeing her said ‘Daughter take courage yourfaith has made you well (sozo) and at once the woman was madewell(sozo).”--Matthew 9:22 Mark 5:34; James 5:15
· Deliverance - “And those who had seen it reported to them how the man who was demon possessed had been made well (sozo).” --Luke 8:36
8. Out of Egypt (Psalm 105:37)
9. A type of Calvary (Numbers 21:7-8)
10. The God who heals (Exodus 15:26)
11. Victory over sin first (Romans 8:1-2)
12. Stripes for healing. (Isaiah 53:1)
So the word in Greek sozo covers healing of body mind and spirit
The summary of the ministry of Jesus (Luke 19:10) For the Son of Man came to seek and to (sozo) save, heal, deliver what was lost. The ministry of Jesus is to the sinner and the sick.
Life Application:
One or the reasons we do not see the sick healed is because every time we pray for the sick, there is still a part or us that says, "Lord, if it's Your will" or "Lord, if it's Your timing. But somewhere deep inside, these nagging thoughts are really doubts. When you pray for the sick, do you pray with expectation? If no, meditate on God's word about healing, praying for transformation of your mind until faith rises and destroys all doubt.
