As we explore the scriptures during this Sunday school school. I want to take time to honor the men and women that served in the Armed Forces the paid the ultimate sacrifice to protect and serve our nation.

We never should forget those who paved the way for us to have the freedoms we enjoy today. As we should never forget how our LORD and Savior Jesus shed His blood for us and rose again to give us freedom to do His will.

Thanks God for the young people here with us today.... this lesson today has something that children, teenagers, and adults could learn.

Freedom is not free; it cost many people before us to have the freedoms in the United States that we have today.

Being a student or a disciple of Christ ---we cost each of .

God is calling each of young people to be leaders ( people willing to serve God) and not just followers.

Examples of follow traditions instead of following God:

The other day 6 young people vandalized High school- it was called a senior prank. Some followed the crowd rather than become a leader.

Many of young/ older people will face decisions that can their life to go in wrong direction.

using drugs

profanity

political parties over following God’s

culture norms

By the end of this lesson we will know the COST of be a disciple ( a student for Christ) and will help us to remember a time when we relied on God’s power and LOOKED for opportunities to serve others.

Too worried about Tradition

You must not use traditions to invalidate the WORD of GOD.

Example of Navy cor.e value use to include the word Tradition - sailors got drunk at every port/ had a woman at every port.

Change to HONOR, COURAGE, Commitment
