God’s Wealth X Always Wanting Never Receiving
God’s Wealth X Always Wanting Never Receiving
“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal;
but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
“The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light.
But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!
“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.
“Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?
Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?
“So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin;
and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’
For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
Location… Location…
Location… Location…
“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal;
but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Location and purpose are important.
Where are you when it comes to money and wealth? What is your position and for what purpose are you gathering?
Most of us would answer that we do both… But the text says do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth.
because your heart will be there…
So it becomes about our heart and our perspective on money and wealth.
treasures on earth also come and go, they can be destroyed and stolen.
God doesn’t want your treasure to be placed on something that is temporal.
Are We Laying up treasures on earth?
Are We Laying up, treasures in Heaven?
Wherever you lay up treasure there your heart will be.
If heaven is your treasure then it is safe and will never be taken from you or destroyed. It will yield dividends in this life to place our heart on treasures in heaven.
So, where is your heart when it comes to wealth?
There is a saying… out of sight out of mind…
this means if something isn’t placed before you you probably aren’t thinking about it.
“The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light.
But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!
Jesus says the source is our eyes, the destination is our heart and it gets there through our mind.
The source of light for us is our eye. The organ that gives us vision. The organ that gives us a sense of direction. Our mind then interprets the information and sends it into our heart and senses.
When it comes to money and wealth what do you see?
Is money and wealth a dirty topic? Is it sinful?
If the light we see is darkness then how great that darkness is. Your whole body will be full of darkness.
what kind of darkness are we talking about here
Wealth, riches and provision want to control you. They want to lie to you to keep you oppressed and always wanting and never receiving.
Jesus says that there is a conflict with in us. Two masters calling, One is God the other is Mammon. No other place in the Bible do we see this kind of direct conflict described so clearly. This means the battle here is intense.
“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.
A wrong perspective of wealth riches and provision will dethrone God in your heart.
Here are some truths that will bring true light into us!
God is our Treasure! Jesus is the mediator of the Blessing and the Holy Spirit is the affirmation of this truth!
God is our provider who provides for all our needs!
God is a God of abundance! He is a Giver!
Trust God’s ability to provide for you!
God has prosperity for you in ways you could never grasp!
It has to be done by faith and trusting Jesus!
Today Jesus wants to affirm in your heart His intentions towards you!
Let’s Pray!
“Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?
